I too HATE wallpaper, but we discovered a steamer and a large putty knife does wonders. Steam the paper and scrape off, usually comes right up. Unless it's that damn plastic-y wall paper, gotta rip the top layer off first, then steam off the understuff and scrape away. ugh.
  • Loading the player...
  • we had the plastic crap...leaving the paper film underneath....so since we haven't got a steamer i've been soaking the wall with a water sprayer then scraping it off but still a pain

That sucks! Only thing I can think of is to try and use hot water when spraying. Best of Luck! I bet it will look beautiful when you're done with it!
  • i really hope so...now if i can just get DH to choose a color out of the ones i picked .....i may be just doing it

  • I feel your pain! My parents remodeled their kitchen last month and to save some money on the contractor they took down their own wallpaper, so I went over to help. Talk about a PITA!!! My dad had bought stuff to spray on to help loosen the glue, it worked pretty well if you sprayed it on and let it sit for a few minutes. Good luck finishing your bathroom!

  • I'm sorry! That sucks. I hate having any room in our house in disarray. I hope the rest of the project goes by quickly and smooth and you get your bathroom back to normal.

  • if you don't want to use any chemicals, hot water and vinegar can loosen the glue pretty effectively. i've used this method before with success.
    BFP#1 1/24/12 ~ EDD 10/3/12 ~ Natural m/c 2/23/12 8w/3d. Hysteroscopy 4/20/12 - 2 fibroids removed
  • If you don't have a steamer you can make due with an iron.... use a damp towel and the iron set on steam.... it takes a little longer but can save you from putting holes in the dry wall!!!
