Maybe I am lame but all I could think about is poor Grandma cleaning up the mess and jumping at the balloon pop. I think I am just going to text that it's a boy or girl.

I blame Pinterest for all of the gender reveal ideas. Everyone needs a campy photo now plus a cake with pink or blue on the inside.

I like the idea of a cute gender reveal, but the balloon thing is NMS. The first time (with DD) we just called people and told them.

Next time if we do anything at all, I think we'll do the cake thing--where the inside is iced with pink or blue.

I think this is very AW-y. We just called our family members and let them know. And told others when they asked.

SIL had a big party and we had to record (on video) opening the envelope. I'm glad she hadn't heard about the cake and other stuff. I really don't want to eat blue or pink cake.

I mean, we hadn't really announced the name-- it wasn't secret, nor had we yelled it from the rooftops-- but at my baby shower, I put out wooden alphabet blocks spelling out her name next to one of those frames for guests to sign. I wouldn't hold a special party to announce it (nor would I have a gender reveal party), but people were definitely excited dto learn her name at the shower.

I am against making a big deal about gender reveal and name reveals because I plan to have more children and I like to set the bar low. If did a fancy reveal for my first kid I would feel kinda bad not doing for my second kid and third and so on. I think gender reveal parties are really stupid .

Gender reveal parties are a bit much, but I'm all for a cute photoshoot, mostly to save as a reminder and to capture the parent's reaction to learning what they are having.

I agree, perfectly acceptable. Baby stuff at a baby shower about the baby to be- that's what baby showers are for.

This is a really sweet idea. If I were to have made one of those name reveal photos, my family would have taken it as fair game to discuss why such and such name was crossed off the list and how much they preferred it to the one we chose. Hell to the no.

Thats different. That's between a couple.

For DS, we had the tech put the gender in an envelope, we had lunch at the park and opened it. No pomp and circumstance, just me and my husband. It wasn't a party, nobody else involved.
