2nd Trimester

FFFC?

No post yet?  I'll get it started with an XP from the Dec 2012 Board:

I hate the name Asher. I also really dislike the "Aiden, Braden, Kaden, Hayden, Jayden" trend. I know that what other people name their kids shouldn't really matter to me, but I pretty much dismiss other parents as people we wouldn't hang out with if they choose names like this for their kids. (Exception: Kids that are at least 5 years old that have the "den" names... Whose parents chose them before they were the "cool thing.")

Re: FFFC?

  • I dislike professional pregnancy announcements, professional pregnancy pictures and also sex/gender reveal parties.  I also don't read posts regarding when and how to announce on Facebook.  If the only way I'm going to find out someone is pregnant is via Facebook I'm probably not good enough friends with them to really care too much.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

Okay. The "can I eat this?" food posts make me roll my eyes BIG time. I'm also not so into the "it's a ..." and then go into the thread to find out what the sex of your kid is. Chances are, if I don't recognize your SN, I don't really care.

Can I eat this? The answer is always yes, unless you found it on the floor.

I never open those threads about sex because frankly, I don't give_a_shit.

Sometimes, what you find on the floor is fair game, too.

I love your siggy.  So. Freaking.  Much.

  • I also don't like the "it's a... click to find out" posts. I get that people are excited about knowing the sex, but just put it in the subject line!! That's what I did.

Also, I'm finding the repetitive weight and movement posts to be annoying. Click back a page or two, and most likely you'll find the exact same post written by someone else.

And my personal confession. I've gained like 5 lbs and I feel disgusting. I've always generally been thin, and always had body image issues. I think it is going to be a lot harder than I thought to force myself to gain a healthy amount of weight, and that makes me feel very guilty and nervous.

I hate how a million-and-two newbs crawl out of the wood works, simply to announce the sex of their baby- just to return to lurkerdom.

Did you enjoy your 1 post of fame that 54 people opened, and 2 commented on?

  • I spoke/laughed with DS extra loud while waiting in the drive-thru at the bank yesterday.  I was hoping the teller would notice and send a pile of Frooties our way (which she did).

    DS doesn't like candy.  Haha!

I hate that!! Just announce it already...I don't think you need to do an elaborate display, only your family and close friends (who probably already know) really care.

I hate posts that say, I'm Out on FB!!

The aiden thing is pretty remarkable. It seems obvious to me that any name rhyming with it  is going to incredibly common, but i guess for a lot of people that doesn't matter. this is why DH and i flock towards "weird" names. our poor kids. :)

My confession is that yesterday i was lecturing my DH about controlling the things he says in front of our DD now that she is picking up on what we say. he repeated what i said in the voice that he does that mocks me, and I, on auto pilot, told him to shut up, right after this lecture of mine. Our DD immediately starting saying "shut up!" Needless to say, my DH walked away feeling like he had won that argument. . . .

Also, this isn't a confession really, but my DD has been pronouncing the word "waffles" by saying "f**kers". NO idea why. this has been happening for well over a month. we just let her say it for fear that making a big deal out of it will make things worse. And okay, we find it hilarious.

DS used to call the farmer's market the "f*ckers" market.  Like you we tried hard not to make a big deal.  We also found it hilarious.

My FFFC:  I have a previa and am on modified bed rest.  We have tickets to the Dbacks/Cubs game tonight.  I'm a huge Cubs fan.  I also started spotting again this morning.  I want to go.  I am thinking of not telling DH so that he will still agree.  I feel a bit guilty about this, but I feel fine and it's just spotting.  Obviously if it gets worse we won't go.  As an ob/gyn, I know very well the consequences of going.  It doesn't make me want to go any less.

  • Our department here at work ordered out for lunch and I got a sandwich that had deli meat and sprouts on it and it was delicious.

  • Yes, very much bored with the gender announcement and food posts... "Oh, my god I ate a deli meat and sushi sandwich while I got my hair and nails done!  Help!"

My personal confession:  I'm eating everything in sight and not giving two craps about it!

I'm due on October 21. I'm secretly hoping DS waits until at least the 25th to come out so that my maternity leave will cover both Thanksgiving & Christmas holidays.

Even though I know my co-worker has already requested the week of Christmas off.

  • Cant stand when people on here post about obviously serious problems with their s/o (he's cheating, drugs, beats you , ect...) and they expect to hear something other than "leave him"  Get REAL help!  Not help from a message board!
  • Really tired of hearing "Just wait until...(insert whatever pregnancy moment fits)" every time I talk about things that are happening to me to someone who's already been there done that.

Also extremely tired of my dad's girlfriend.  Can't. Stand. Her.  I have been really hoping that pregnancy will give me the excuse (and the juevos) to tell her off.  Been really close, but no cigar.   Sigh...

Late to the party, and this isn't flameful, but DD2 received a dump truck for her 1st bday. DD1 called in a 'dumb f* ck' for a few months. I have a video of her saying it over and over again. I still laugh my ass off.

My mother and I started asking her to call daddy and grandpa a dump truck. She'd oblige because it's super silly to call your dad and grandpa a dump truck. Grandma and I would laugh and laugh and laugh.

lol! that's awesome. my DH was really trying to get DD to talk about "mother's waffles" so that she'd keep saying "Mother's f**kers."  gotta love it.

I hate this. All of my friends with babies think that this is what I want to hear everytime I talk to them about my pregnancy. My mom is of the same opinion. So annoying.

  • Fair enough for you to hate whatever names, but to assume you don't like the parent based on that?  I hope you're joking.  One of my best friends who I've known for almost 15 years is naming her child something I don't like, and my sister did the same.  A person's taste in names has nothing to do with your ability to get along with them.

Also sometimes people choose names because they really like them, not just because they are popular.  It's difficult to find a name both parents agree to so sometimes you're left with something you both like that unfortunately happens to be popular.  Or you loved the name for years and it became popular over time.
