I love it spelled Maisy. I think it's precious and would be an adorable nickname for Margaret!
Married to my best friend 6/5/10

BFP #2 4/9/12, EDD 12/16/12, M/C Rory 4/24/12.
BFP #3 10/6/12, EDD 6/16/12., Matilda born 6/17/13.
A friend is considering this. While I think it is adorable, I also think it should be a nicknane rather than her given name. And I think her spelling seems weird, but she doesn't want to chance it being pronounced as Macy.
I like it as a nn for Margaret, but not as a full first name. I agree that it should be spelled Maisie- spelling it Maizey is basically naming the baby Corny.

FWIW, there is a current member of Congress named Mazie. I don't buy the whole adult/professional argument anymore. The name climate is really shifting. I mean, our presidential candidates are Barack and Mitt. I know Mitt's real name is Willard, but society knows him by Mitt. If we can have a president Mitt, you could very easily have a doctor named Maisie.

We spelled it "Maisie" (for my youngest DD). I love the name We get tons of compliments on it. I don't buy the whole "you need a super-serious professional name for when you're a super-serious adult" and LOL to the people who say it's a dog's name. Seriously, lots of dogs have people names--you could say that about any name. My uncle's horse is named "Grayson", that doesn't mean I'd think Grayson was a horse name
I love it. We had it on our list for DD1's middle name and I think DH would like to use it for DD2 but I am not sure that we will. It is super popular in the UK (spelled Maisie).

We actually named our little rat terrier Maisy, but I don't see it as a dog's name, as others have mentioned. Our male papillon is Toby and we really didn't think we'd be able to have kids, so our dogs have human names. It has been very difficult to find a name we love as much as Maisy for our human child.
We get tons of compliments on Maisy and my cousins in England absolutely adored it.

Baby BOY is due May 23, 2014!
I like Maisie best, then Maisy.
Maizey reminds me of corn.

Our old neighbors' dog is named Maisey.
Yup Maisie or maybe Maisy.
Not at all Maizey.
I think the Z makes it seem Teen Mom-ish. I like it better with an S.
Yes, exactly!!

No. Don't like it, sorry.
I can't help but think lazy. Lazy Maizey.
All I can think is corn. Plus I think it would sound silly on an adult.
This, but I like it Maisie or Maizie.
Basically this.
This.
Plus that spelling is terrible...looks like you're referencing corn.
I think it's cute, but I like it spelled Maisie.

Agreed. I also think of Daisy Headed Maizy too!
This. And I prefer Maisie.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
Random thought... when I saw the name I immediately remembered the group called Mazzy Star from the 1990's and their song "fade into you".
So now you have another possible spelling if you like the name.

Agreed. It makes me think of a cute little dog. As for a person it makes me think of a sweet but somewhat incompetent secretary.
This! And I think of corn too.
But they are 2 different names w/2 different pronunciations.
Maci= MAY-see
Maisy/Maisie= MAY-zee
FWIW, we've never encountered pronunciation issues w/our Maisy.
