Travel system or separate stroller/infant seat?

I'm having trouble deciding which one?  At first I was all about getting the separate infant seat and just getting the snap n go until my child outgrows the infant seat, then getting a simple lightweight stroller.  Now, some are telling me that it is a better deal to get the travel system since it comes all together.  Most reviews I've read say travel systems are too heavy and bulky, just get the snap n go.  Then I have to decide which stroller is best for after baby outgrows the infant seat?  Need help?!

Re: Travel system or separate stroller/infant seat?

  • I'd definitely do separates. Travel systems are bulky and there are much better strollers out there than the travel system ones. Do your research and find a stroller that fits your lifestyle. You can also buy an adapter bar for most strollers which pretty much turns it into a travel system if you didn't want to go with the snap n go.

  • Infants seat/snap and go! Travel systems are so big/bulky and heavy. Once you get baby in and diaper bag, maybe purse, etc...they are hard to maneuver. At this point I am wearing baby. I have a BOB that my neighbor loaned me but DD doesn't like her infant seat that much so we aren't using it yet. I have my eyes on a light weight stroller that just went on sale. I will purchase it this week and I can actually use it from 0 pounds so it will be ready to use. For now though, it's easier to just use my Beco.

  • If I had to do it over again I would definitely get a snap-n-go for the stroller and then get a good lightweight umbrella stroller like the Chicco Liteway.  I only used the carseat on the travel system for about 4-5 months (until DD had good head control) then we just used her stroller for outings.  I would get one used though.

  • I got a used snap and go for my Chicco Keyfit 30.  $20 from a mom in my mom's group who's baby grew out of it.  Highly recommend!!

I have no experience with travel systems, but I personally find them ugly! Sorry!

My other stroller is a Bumbleride Indie jogging stroller, that I only use for outdoors.  The snap and go is what I use for indoors/shopping.  Once LO grows out of his infant car seat, i'm going to get either the Valco Baby Zee or UppaBaby G-Luxe for my indoor stroller.

I agree.  I don't have any experience with travel systems, but we have an UppaBaby Vista with the car seat adapter.  I love it and it will last us for a long time.

  • I'm an FTM and looking at this Britax B safe and B agile travel system... https://amzn.to/K8Ok30

heard its light weight, very safe and one of the best rated strollers and car seats!

  • I'm actually one of the few that loved my travel system. My mom bought it for us, so I didn't get a huge say, but it worked out perfectly. The stroller was a Graco metrolite, and it wasn't a PITA at all.

we've since sold it and bout a Chicco light weight. This time around, i'm searching for a double stroller with carseat adapter.

also, don't always assume your child will be happy in a carseat. KB hated the infant carrier. we put her in the stroller part at 5 months and she loved it.

  • I have Chicco key fit snap and go, and let me tell you, it is much smaller than the travel systems. I have the BOB SE for walks and the snap and go for shopping. This is what fit our lifestyle, and I am happy with my decision. More expensive in the long run, but worth it for us.
  • Love love love my city mini with car seat adapter (use with chicco key fit). Not a single regret. Also, no snap n go to store later. The car seat adapter pops off and takes up zero room. I would buy this over again, fwiw.
