Hey Ladies,
My husband and I both really like the name Cora. However he wants to spell it Korra. I have seen it spelled that way, but more commonly with a C. Would you say that Korra is spelled incorrectly? Also, what do you think of the name in general?
Thanks!
Re: Girl Name- Spelling
I like it and prefer the spelling Cora.
I had a great aunt named Cora. She was such a sweet, sweet lady. So I always love this name when I hear it because it makes me think of her.

Korra is an incorrect spelling, as far as I can gather. I've never seen it before, and I couldn't find it on my go-to baby names search engine.
Cora is lovely, though.
Yes, Korra definitely looks like it is spelled incorrectly.
Cora is a great name.
Thanks ladies- I agree with you! I thought maybe it was just me though.
BTW sorry about my crazy ticker- I don't know how to fix it but I am working on it. I'm obviously not 47 weeks pregnant!
I think the name Cora is very pretty, sweet, and feminine. I definitely prefer the spelling Cora. To me, Korra does look misspelled--something about the double "r" seems a bit off.

Korra is NOT spelled incorrectly. Correct is what YOU want it to be! I went to college with a girl named Kora and she was beautiful and smart!!! I LOVE KORRA! What's another "r"?
Does he want to spell it Korra because that is the name of the new avatar (Legend of Korra)? They just made that spelling up for the cartoon.
Cora is a lovely name. It was on my short list for awhile, but I've been hearing it a lot lately and I have since moved it to my long list.
In that case, how about Qorrrrrrra?
Any middle name ideas to go with Cora? Our last name is a two syllable J name. I was thinking possibly of Joy?
Bless your heart...
You don't appear to be able to listen. No. Correct is not what YOU want it to be.
I hate to even admit this, but yes. :-)
Please dont spell it incorrectly. Contrary to what a few people think spelling odes count. Cora is a nice name, please leave it as such.
Cora is beautiful. I've thought of that name as an option- but there's a breakfast chain restaurant by that name in Canada so I put it aside. I agree, you can spell it however you like but I do prefer the look of Cora to Korra. But it's all relative. Do what makes you and your family happy!
Cora Joy is great!
A few other options:
Cora Jane
Cora Grace
Cora Brooke
Cora Catherine
Cora Mae
Cora Madeline

Korra is a name, but a made up one. It's a character from Avatar: The Last Airbender. https://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Korra
Cora is a better choice.
i don't think a name that YOU choose can be spelled "incorrectly" if you intended it to be spelled that way.
I actually like Korra. Cora makes me think of Coral, and that's just plain silly to me.
Cora is extremely trendy right now so the name itself is NMS, however it is a very pretty. The spelling Korra is terrible. Your child would be correcting people on how to spell it their entire life. Spell it Cora and enjoy the beautiful name!

I do not like the spelling of Korra. It looks made up.
I love the name Cora though!
I think if your last name starts with a J, it may flow better if you use a middle name that starts with a different letter. But if you like the sound of Joy with your last name, I also like Juliet as a middle name.

This!
Cora is such a pretty name. DD's friend at daycare is named Cora and I love the name.
This! Cora is a beautiful name, and I think changing the spelling does it an injustice.
Yes, actually, a name can in fact be spelled incorrectly, even if you intend to spell it that way. "Korra" is not a legitimate spelling for Cora. It's made up.

To this poster (not the OP), little Korra will have to correct people her entire life on how to spell Korra, not Cora or even Kora. I have a friend named Sarrah because her parents thought it would be unique...she HATES her name and is changing it when she gets married in a few months to Sarah. That's what an extra "r" is.
