Our 20 wk ultrasound at Northwestern is 6/20, but I'd like to know the gender before Father's Day to surprise DH. My Dr won't do it for fear of being wrong unless she can get on a particular ultrasound machine and they don't have appts before 6/20. Any reputable places I could look into?
Thanks!

Re: Chicago Elective Ultrasound??
I know a few people who have gone to Belly Factory in Frankfort.
Closer to Chicago is First Peek Ultrasound in Lake Street in Oak Park.
we went when i was 16 1/2 weeks pregnant and the tech said it was a boy 99.9% (the remaining 1% is when the baby's delivered she said quite jokingly). They had a promo at that time and we only paid $39 for a simple gender check! great deal! It was reassuring because that tech said she's never been wrong for the past 3 or so years she has worked there. On our 20 week A/S in our hospital, as soon as the tech placed the prob in my belly - she immediately said it's a boy! so our 16.5 week US was right on!
definitely a place to try for only $39..can't beat it!
7/30/12 - B/G twins born at 33w4d due to PPROM
Same! I really enjoyed them. We went in at almost 16 weeks and were ALMOST completely sure of the sex, but the tech kept second guessing herself, although she and I were almost certain we saw the three lines of a girl. I went back a week later for free for a recheck, and we saw nothing because the kiddo was not cooperating, but the fact that we saw "nothing" made us more confident that it was a girl. The next week we went back for free again and got a very solid confirmation.
Also, the bed they have there is SO COMFORTABLE. I kind of just wanted to lay there and take a nap, and DH was jealous that I got to lay on it. There's a parking lot right next to the building and it says it's restricted, but you park there and go in and write down your car and plate number and the receptionist will call who I assume watches the security cameras for the building and lets them know you're there for business. We prefer to drive everywhere instead of pay for trains and busses for the most part, so that helped.
I also went to Belly Factory down in Frankfort when I was almost 9 weeks along... I was very, very, very paranoid and I REALLY wanted to see the baby between my first u/s at 7 weeks and my NT scan at 14 weeks. Back then a week was an eternity. Belly Factory was the only place I found that would give you an ultrasound after 6 weeks but before 15 weeks, so the drive down and $40 was very worth it to ease my mind. I think Goldenview was best, price wise, when it came to the sex check though. We paid $40 for it and since we scheduled it for a Monday, we were upgraded to the next most expensive package for free--you have to ask for it when you schedule, though.
