Lately i've been feeling with a shortness of breath. It doesn't happen all the time, but once in a while (like right now), it becomes a little hard to take in a deep breath. I was wondering if anyone else has this?
I have had this since about 8 weeks or so. I told my doctor it felt like my lung capacity was smaller. He said it is. First, all the shifting pushes things into your lungs, also you are sharing your air with the baby and now also breathing what the baby exhales which is waste. That?s what my ob said.
It's totally normal as you need a lot more oxygen when you are expecting. Which is a comfort since I had a pulmonary embolism 4 years ago and any shortness of breath tends to freak me out a bit!
During my last pregnancy, my mid-pregnancy bloodwork showed that I was anemic, although I didnt have any symptoms, and my Doc told me to take an Iron supplement. Around 15-16ish weeks this time around, I felt very short of breath and fatigued (not just my usual tiredness). I couldnt even walk up the stairs without feeling like I had run a marathon. I decided to go ahead and start taking an iron supplement like before (too much cant hurt you!) and I actually started to feel much better. I did talk to my doc about it at my next appt and she said it was more than likely horomones at this stage in the game, but as I mentioned, the iron couldnt hurt!
Oh yea, been happening for at least the past month. Mine is worse in the mornings, for the first 3-4 hours that I'm awake. I'm trying morning prenatal yoga dvds to expand my lung capacity...it's a bit better, I guess, but not much. It's the most disconcerting of all of the symptoms so far.

Anemia does not make you short of breath. It will make you fatigued though. I've dealt with severe anemia for a few years (the kind where you need to get a blood infusion). It can be exhausting, but does not affect breathing.
I have been short of breath since I got pregnant. I see a high risk ob and he says its because of all the hormones, the extra blood flow, and the babies pushing my inside organs around! He says it is totally normal and won't 'hurt' me or the babies. It still makes me nervous though!
Im a FTM and its awful for me, started around week 18 and now im 26. I feel as if I weigh 500lbs and simple household chores put me out of breath. I heard its your uterus pushing on the bottom of your lungs, we gotta make room for a lot in there!
I have been having the same issue. It is really annoying and sometimes takes me longer than I would like to get to some sort of normal. Just one of those pregnancy things, I guess.

Same here! I've been working in the barn a lot and have really had to slow down a lot. Just simple things are causing shortness of breath.
yes! we have a *very* steep hill that i have to walk up every morning. it. is. the. worst.
i'm embarrassed to walk with my one friend to get lunch or something cause she's a fast walker and i'm barely able to keep up a conversation.
Your due date is my oldest daughters birthday
