I've said before that I'm a psychiatry resident. Well I was on call last night and went down to the ER for a consult. One of the ER residents that I work with and see fairly frequently down there asks, "Are you getting taller...or wider...or pregnanter?" I laughed and said "Yep!" He asked when I was due, so I told him. (I have just been letting people figure it out as I start to show instead of announcing to everyone in the hospital) He then goes "You're showing early, aren't you?" To which I replied "well, again, I'm 26 weeks. Babies are born then sometimes. He takes up space. It's pretty normal."
WTF?!?! This is another doctor who I know has seen pregnant women before!
Re: another "things people say" post
My mil said, 'Well you're not exactly small are you! Are you sure it isn't twins?!'... I grunted. Then at my last docs appointment she sounded horrified when I said the baby is growing on schedule.
I honnestly don't feel like I am particularly big either.. grrr giving me a complex
A cop came into our store today. He looked at me, looked at my stomach and then said "Oh! Any day now?". Excuse me? Any day now? Are you kidding me?
You would think that he had never seen a pregnant woman in his life. His wife just had a baby! What an idiot!
"look at that belly! when are you due again?"
August 11
"WOW you still have 3 months! You sure you aren't carrying twins!?"
The thing is I'm 5'3" and it looks like I'm smuggling a basketball so I take all those comments with a grain of salt...it really bothered me with my first pregnancy but I expect it with this pregnancy so it doesn't bother me. Plus I know with hard work I will get back to my pre-pregnancy weight
I typically let these comments go in one ear and out the next but I swear I wanted to punch a man in the face this past weekend.
I had just gotten off the treadmill (was on it for 45 minutes at a pace of 4.7 - even ran a mile at 7.5). I obviously had put in a decent work out. As I was getting water he comes up to me and says 'you're young, you should get back on the treadmill.'
I said 'well, I think I did pretty good for almost 7 months pregnant!' He then proceeds to tell me that pregnancy is not an excuse at all...
Um. I KNOW THAT.....I am at the gym, aren't I?? I was just on the treadmill for an extended amount of time, right??
WTF.
