We transferred two on day 3 and they both stuck.  (IVF #1 with only known IF dx of endo)
2004-Started TTC; Nov 2007-Lap with endo removed; Jan 2008-Ectopic (mtx); April 2008-IVF #1 (bfp, twin girls); March 2011-FET (cp); June 2012-IVF #2 (bfp, singleton, EDD 3-19-12)

  • No history of infertility for any of us (me, DH, surrogate) and we chose to transfer 2 grade A embryos on day 5, hoping they'd both stick.
Mom to 2 beautiful girls, 3 yrs and 22 months old. My 2nd was born at 32 weeks due to Rhogam failure/severe complications from Rh disease and is our miracle. She has bilateral auditory neuropathy and a cochlear implant, activated 4/5/2012 at 19 months. Lilypie First Birthday tickers
  • We put 2 in with a 5 day transfer and are now 12 weeks pregnant with twins! Good luck to you =)

  • We did an FET wiith donor embryos. They were excellent quality day 5 blasts when frozen. They thawed and put back 2 and both of them took. The couple who donated the embryos to us transferred 2 and both of theirs took also.

We used the same clinic as they did and the feeling I got was there would have to be extenuating circumstances for them to agree to transfer more than 2 at a time. When I did IVF with my own (different clinic), the quality wasn't great and I only had 3, so we transferred all of them on day 3. BFN.

  • i'm a surrogate, so obviously i was specifically chosen for my ability to get pregnant... unproven 22 year old donor eggs, we put back two 5 day embies. (if i could do over, i'd probably do a SET, but hindsight is always 20/20. i'd chose SET because i'm not totally comfortable carrying twins with the level of care i can get where i live.)

We transferred one "perfect" blast on day 5, had ID twins.

  • DH and I got lucky.  We only had 2 viable embryos out of all of them (meaning none are frozen).  Because of that both were implanted on day 3 (we were aiming for day 5).  Both stuck!

Our RE pretty much told us that we won the lottery.  To bank on your only two viable embryos sticking does not have good odds.

Oh, this was our first attempt at IVF also.

  • We transfered two embryos on day three.  Both stuck!

U/S#1 showed 2 heartbeats! U/S#2 showed Baby A's heartbeat was 157 and Baby B 's heartbeat was 183! U/S#4 showed Baby A is a Boy (heartbeat 161) and Baby B is a Girl (heartbeat 159)!! Lilypie Second Birthday tickers
  • Both times we've gotten pregnant we've transfered 2 day 5 embryos. We did 1 single embryo transfer, still day 5 embryo, and it didn't take.

  • This was our first IVF, and I had only a 40% chance of it working thanks to my age (37 at the time) and the quality/# of my eggs. We transferred two on day six, the other two didn't make it to freeze. But both transferred stuck!

  • We transferred 4 on day 3. It was my 6th IVF and I was 40 at the time to explain the higher amount transferred.  I was quite surprised that 3 stuck/

  • We transferred 2 embies on day 3. They were grade 1.5 and grade 2 with grade 1 being the highest. They both took. Good luck to you. BTW this was our first transfer.
  • Initially we decided that we'd transfer two back unless we had one really stellar looking embryo. The day of transfer though, we were told that we only had two blasts (one good looking, expanded blast and one regular blast that was a day behind) out of the 9 embies we had growing. They said it was unlikely any of the others would catch up and be able to be frozen. They also said they weren't sure the regular blast could be frozen. The next day it was confirmed none of the others were freeze worthy so I was glad we transferred the two we had.

  • We did a SET of a 5AA blast (5DT) for IVF#1.  I really didn't want twins because having 2 bad sleepers scared the bejesus out of me.  We did 2 (5AA and 4AA, I think) for FET#1, which resulted in twins--really bad sleepers! :)
  • We transferred two day 5 embies on our 1st fresh cycle.  One of our embryos started to split but didn't finish the process.  I didn't know at the time that ICSI embryos are more likely to split into identicals. We have three that made it to freeze and we'll more than likely do single embryo transfers with those when we decide to use them.

  • We were unexplained infertility - only obvious thing was age.  I was 38 at the time of retrieval/transfer.  Out of 12 retrieved, 3 made it to the 5 day transfer.  One was a blast, the other two were morulas.  Two stuck and I gave birth to boy/girl twins.  This was our first and to be our only IVF as we had to pay OOP.

  • We used donor eggs from a 31 yr old.  We transferred 1 grade A 8 cell and 1 grade A 4 cell.  RE wanted to also transfer 1 more grade A 4 cell, we declined.

  • We were planning on transferring one or two, with heavy deference to doctor's recommendation on transfer day. Both the embryologist and doctor recommended two because it increased our odds of getting pregnant, as long as we did not want twins. My DH and I both have diagnosed issues. My son is the result of our hail may injectible IUI cycle.

I was afraid of a twin pregnancy, but honestly did not think two would stick. It was our first IVF cycle and I had hit my OOP max for insurance, so our costs were relatively low.

We decided to go for it and low and behold, both took AND one split. We lost baby C around 11 weeks, but we knew from the moment we found out about the third baby that he was likely to not be a take-home baby.

    Good luck!

  • I started with 8 embies, four didn't make it long enough to freeze.

Fresh transfer was one excellent grade hatching blast that ended in miscarriage at 7 weeks.

FET #1 was on embie day 5, excellent grade hatching blast.  She is almost 3.

FET#2 was a day 5 , 2 embies.  Mostly because we didn't want to pay to keep one frozen, and because I had already had both a m/c, and a healthy pregnancy, I figured two embies was my best shot at one baby, which was all I wanted.  Had I known they would have both stuck,I would have done them one at a time .  I love being pregnant but I did not not love the end of my pregnancy with the twins.  They are 15 months old.

  • 2 on day 5.  Both stuck.

ETA:  tubal factor (ectopic) was our only issue.  That was our only ivf.  We have 3 frozen.

    Lilypie Second Birthday tickers
  • We transferred the only three we had left on day 3. Two were perfect looking 8 cell embryos (which I am assuming became the twins I'm carrying) and a wonkier looking 15 cell embryo.

I am 38, DOR, DH low morphology... this was our 1st IVF after three failed IUIs.

  • We transferred 2 on day 3. They were the only 2 we had left and the grades were average and below average. We were told they probably would not result in a pregnancy and less than 1% chance of twins because the grades were not good. Both stuck and I have fraternal twin girls. So if you are putting back 3 prepared for triplets or more, it can happen even against the odds given to you. This was my very first IVF attempt and I did not stim well. I only had 5 eggs retrieved and only 3 of those were mature and only 2 fertilized. I was told we need to start preparing for the next cycle because this one was probably a bust. My RE was shocked when he saw 2 heartbeats on the first u/s at 7 weeks. So it can really happen.

  • We transferred two frozen embryos on day 5.  At my 5 1/2 week ultrasound, they saw two gestational sacs, two yolk sacs, but only one fetal pole (and it had a heartbeat).  I was told that the other baby would probably never develop and would be reabsorbed by my body or bled out.  They told me that with almost 100% certainty.  Well... when we went back at 8 weeks we had two equally healthy little heartbeats!

Good luck!  But if you don't mind me asking - why are you doing 3?  Is that what the doctor recommended b/c of age or embryo quality?  I'd be wary of triplets.

  • For my twins pregnancy I transferred 3 on day five.

I also conceived two singletons, the first was from a 2ET on day three (miscarriage) and the second was from an sET on day 5 (I'm 15+ weeks pg with that baby now).

  • 2 on day 3...IVF#1 gave us DS and IVF#2 gave us these two guys. GL!!!
