Help! Did I just pass my mucus plug?!

Alright ladies, I apologize for the overshare, but I am 5 days overdue with my first baby, and I have no idea if I'm even close to going into labor! I keep hearing that you will pass your mucus plug shortly before you go into labor, but I don't even know what I'm looking for! I think I might have just passed it but I'm not sure.  Is it just sort of a blob of clearsh jelly-like discharge? How much am I looking for? Is it a huge amount or just noticeably more jelled than normal?
Any info you have is appreciated, I don't know if I should get my hopes up or not!

    I am a FTM as well... but I worked with 5 other women this year who had babies. 1 told me that she knew exactly when she passed her MP - it was HUGE and very much like discharge. The other passed hers over the course of a few days... so I think everyone is different. But from what you said, I would say you did!

    I know it's gross to look at pictures of other people's mucus plugs but do a google image search and take a look so you have some comparison.

    Exactly as you described, I lost mine today too! My first kid mine was slightly bloody, this time not.

    I have been losing my MP in pieces the past few days. Still no labor. When I had my DS2, I had my bloody show (a bloody MP) and was in labor within 12 hours.

    I don't get why women look for things like this?? It doesn't mean anything I have two kids and never noticed my mp, and some women loose and regrow theirs many times.  Just relax and don't look into things too much.

    It's as if your vagina sneezed. Gross but true. I hope you go into labor soon. I am SURE you are ready!

    Uhhh some of us don't actually LOOK for it....but it is a bit hard to miss. I actually noticed what appeared to be snot in my undies starting yesterday. I thought it was some weird discharge....continued to happen today so I consulted one of my prego books and Google. Apparently, I am losing my plug in pieces...trust me I am not looking for it. Yes, you can regrow it many times...but in the 9th month it is a sign that the ball is starting to roll...so don't discourage her...for God's sake she's a week overdue.

    Yep, that sounds like it.  Not necessarily a sign that labor is coming shortly though.  With my pregnancies I tend to lose mine a little at a time over 3-4 weeks and still deliver late.  However, seeing that you are 5 days overdue, I would say your time is coming real soon:)  Just keep on walking and get things dilating down there!

    If you lose your mucus plug at 40w 6d I think it's a pretty good indicator that your labor will start in the next 24-48 hours. It sounds like you lost yours! Someone who loses it at let's say 37 weeks....not so much. 

    With my 1st pregnancy I lost mine at 40w 3d and my water broke later that day.

    LOL, this!  I've already started to lose bits of mine.  During my last pregnancy I lost the entire thing at once and had DS the same day.

    Since you are overdue, labor has got to be coming soon. But I will say I passed my MP with my second around 38 weeks and was 5cm dilated and still didn't go into labor until 2 weeks later.

    It will come. I know the last few weeks and days are soooo hard! Get your hopes up though, you know a baby is coming soon, whether it was your MP or not.
