Things You're Doing or Not Doing Because You're Paranoid? :)

I am so freaked out right now to do anything that might cause the baby to detach. I know this is irrational, but I can't help it. LOL. Is there anything you are or aren't doing because of your irrational paranoia?

Here's what I'm doing....

1. Driving slowly over speed bumps (I even did this when TTC because I thought it would make the sperm fall out)

2. Not moving quickly or bouncing around too much. Lowering myself to my chair softly, etc.

3. Unbuttoning my pants. Part of this is because I am bloated, but I mainly don't want to squish the poppy seed.

4. Told DH he isn't allowed to pat my butt anymore because I don't want the pat to reverberate through my body and cause the poppy seed to fall out.

So now that you know I'm a bit psycho, LOL, what are you doing or not doing that you know is totally irrational?

  • I'm VERY paranoid as well! But i wouldn't go THAT far :p I know the baby is just a little seed currently but what is meant to be will happen! I wouldn't over think it! I'm more worried about what i eat and how much i eat!

    H & H 9 months to you :)

  • After reading about all the m/c on here I am paranoid as well.  Just trying to be H+H and pray for a sticky baby!  Good luck to you!

  • LOL, well, it's...a little irrational, especially with not moving quickly or bouncing.  Unless your doctor has put you on bedrest, being active is good for you and the baby.  My friend ran everyday until she was 9 months pregnant!  Your baby is safe...unless like I said, your doctor has told you otherwise, you are fine!  However..the bloating this is normal, I have to unbutton my pants when I sit down..but not because I don't want to squish the babe...it's just uncomfortable.
  • I get nervous about squatting.  My mom put this seed of doubt in my head so now whenever I squat to pet my dog or pick up his poo I'm like, "arggh...I shouldn't be doing this...even though I know I should and it's irrational to think I can't!"

  • Having sex, lol. I am 7 weeks and haven't had sex since our positive pregnancy test. I am also afraid to exercise because I'm afraid of hurting the baby in any way. I know both of these things are irrational, but I want to be super safe.

I also find myself Googling *everything* before I eat it. I'm a little paranoid in that respect.

  • Have sex is the only thing!  haha!  We've only bd once since BFP.  Once I am over the scary time we will be back at it.  I've had one m/c and one successful pg and with the successful one we did the same thing.

fwiw I met with my Dr today and she reassured me that nothing I do or don't do (well other than the obvious like drink and smoke) will cause me to m/c!

  • I'm still running, exercising and having sex. It's my diet that has me paranoid. I'm following all the usual rec's of limit caffeine, alcohol, heat your lunch meats, etc. But I'm also neurotic about artificial stuff and chemicals, so I've been avoiding artificial sweeteners, food colorings/dyes, non-organic produce, and the like.

  • My silliest one is deodorant with aluminum in it .. LOL.. I use crystal now, but I can't wait to use my Secret again after I finish bfeeding.

  • Actually, I second that...haven't had sex since we found out I was pregnant and I'm 7 weeks as well!  I'm not worried it's going to hurt the baby though, I don't want to cause any bleeding.  Last time I was pregnant, I bled a little after intercourse and it always freaked me out even though I was told it's normal.  Because it's early, I don't want to see any blood!

Are you serious? I totally understand feeling scared about doing something "wrong", but take it to heart that there is almost nothing you can do to "shake" a good pregnancy. Your poppy seed isn't going to fall out from a pat on the butt or sitting down in a chair.

Off topic, but your SN makes me giggle every time.

  • My RE said no sex but to walk 30 minutes a day.

  • Be careful not to sneeze. You can totally sneeze your baby out

  • Do A LOT of kegels. It will increase your vaginal muscles and keep baby/sperm from coming out.

I think you are more than paranoid.  Based on this post alone, you sound like a complete moron.  You're just over 4 weeks along, so I suggest you get a grip.  If you're this "paranoid" already, I cannot even imagine how you will be able to handle the worries that come after the baby is born...  GL to you.

ETA:  Yes, it is normal to have worries when pregnant, but the examples you provided are absolutely ridiculous.

  • Hahaha I am apparently the COMPLETE opposite of you. I found out I was pregnant a week ago, and this past weekend I spent 1.5 hours jumping around on trampolines at a trampoline park! Although I was a tiny bit nervous that I was doing the wrong thing, everybody assured me it would be fine, and so far so good! No spotting or any other signs that I caused any harm. And I had a blast!

So I'm betting that speed bumps and butt pats aren't going to be a problem for you. =)

  • This will be my first child so just to make sure it stays inside I am walking on my hands so everything stays inside.    I also make sure I wear padded bike shorts to make sure my butt is padded and any acccidental bumps are absorbed before it shakes my belly.

I'm paranoid too but life happens and you can't be in a bubble or you a in trouble when you child grows up.  They will fall, bleed, possibly break, and who knows what else.  My nephew is a wild child and he's only 1.5 yrs old!

  • As someone who participated in an indoor rock climbing competition the night before I got a bfp, I can tell you that not even climbing, falling, and jumping for 3 hours knocked my DD loose.  I was probably 7-8 weeks at the time and had no idea I was pregnant bc we weren't ttc (we weren't tta either).

I'm not saying climbing while pregnant is a good thing to do- had I known, I would not have participated, but my point is there is a LOT of padding in there and you will have a very long and unnecessarily frustrating 9 months if you go slow over every speed bump you pass over, etc.

Repeat after me: Calm down, it will be ok.
