I saw at least five moms with shopping cart covers at Super Target today so decided I should take a look-see on Amazon and I found
this Leacho one. It looks really comfy. My question is this: Do you think it is heavy and is it a huge pain to use one? I think it would be useful just for a more comfortable shopping experience, lol, but also the whole germ thing. But then I'd have to wash it every time? What do you say third tri...thanks!

Re: Shopping cart cover, yay or nay?
Same. Someone bought us one and we tried it once....I think it's buried in the trunk of DH's car somewhere.
This is my first child, so I havnt personally used one. Yet. But my sister has 3 children, all of whom she has used a cart cover with. She Loves them. It helps keep the littlest ones from chewing on a yucky handle and the older ones are strapped in alot better. You dont have to wash it all the time.. theres the side that touches the cart.. and the side that touches the child. So unless it gets dirty(spilt drinks, ext) then you only need to wash it every so often. Kind of like we dont wash our jackets constantly like we would our shirts.
HUGE YAY! I use one EVERY time I shop. I am a germaphobe:), but I like it for the comfort it provides DS too. I can give him his snacks, drinks, etc. without them falling through the cracks too. I keep it in my trunk and wash it when it gets icky from snacks...
We used one for quite awhile with DS but not because of germs. DS just had a hard time sitting back in carts and would always end up tipping forward. The cart cover we have has shoulder straps so it just helped him to stay a little bit more secure in the cart. And it's nice with the toy loops so I could attach a toy and keep him a little occupied. And I could put puffs on the fabric between the handle and the edge of the cart and it made a nice little tray for him. We also didn't wash it every time - only when it got grungy.
This is the same brand that we have - just a different design: https://www.amazon.com/Jeep-Shopping-Cart-Chair-Cover/dp/B0033UWSYK/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1331902652&sr=1-1-catcorr
I agree...we used it for 2 1/2 years.

We still use ours fro DS. As a PP mentioned, it's great to hold DS's cup and snacks. It's also padded on the bottom for a more comfy seat. Now granted, at DS's age, he isn't always in the seat. Sometimes he pushes the cart, but we like having it for when he's in the "off and running" stage again. it helps keep him out of trouble....well ok, the cover doesn't but having him in his seat does. When he was younger we could attached various toys to his cover as well to keep him busy. We don't wash it all the time but don't really see the need. There is a top and a bottom, so if you always put the bottom on the bottom(seat), where's the problem?
As for being heavy and a pain, it's fabric and slips right on the seat area, no fuss.
This is the one we have for DS

We don't use it for high chairs because it doesn't fit them right. We did have our own booster seat for going out. for one thing, DS would get out of the ones provided and the booster keeps him strapped down when needed and has a tray which works well for snacks or when, height wise, he doesn't reach the table properly. Plus it's much more stable than the restaurant ones. DS has just about fallen out of theirs a number of times before we got the booster.

I know some people with toddlers DS's age just let them kneel on their seat, but that doesn't work for us, for one thing, we don't let him just get up and run around when he feels like it, which is what he's do most of the time. Plus he's nosy and won't sit and eat and has a tendency of turning around and hanging over seats of other people, etc.
