Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Are you a frumpy mom?

I usually like to dress up and look nice when I go out to run errands. Today is not one of those days. I'm wearing my baggy jeans, Giants t-shirt, loafers, and my hair in a bun.

Do you get all dolled up before going out? If so, do you judge moms that look like they rolled out of bed at noon? If not, do you roll your eyes at dolled up moms?

  • yep - frump girl right here. Doesn't help that I also work from home. I pretty much live in yoga pants and don't bother putting on a bra unless I'm leaving the house. My husband is sooo lucky :)

  • I find getting dressed up to go to the grocery store to be a waste of hair product.  I do shower, comb my hair, and put on jeans, but nothing fancier than that.

I get dressed up to go out to dinner with friends or go out with DH.

  • I get dolled up if we're going out. The only time I get dolled up at home is if we're having a date night.
  • I'm so frumpy it's ridiculous. I have to wait to shower til LO is napping cuz he's taken to climbing up on the toilet tank and into the sink. I *could* shower before he gets up, but I'd rather stay in bed as long as possible. I live in sweats and tank tops. I do put on jeans to go to the store tho. Standards.

ETA: I don't judge dolled up moms. I wonder how in the world they find the time tho.

  • I'm vain so I like to put on make up (foundation, mascara & lipgloss) and jeans and a shirt (no sweat pants or baggy tees here) even for a short outing like the grocery store.

I pretty much never do my hair, it's frizzy and wavy ugh.

  • totally a frumpy mom here but I lolok forward to the day where I want to clean my house and chase a toddle in high heels and a mini skirt one day..........like I said one day lol

  • I shower and put my makeup on and fix my hair every day.  Sometimes I wear yoga pants but I still fix up.  It's an outfit even if it is yoga pants.  That's the suburban mom uniform.

  • I try to brush my hair and have it look at least decent every day. I don't usually wear makeup except a little eyeliner and brow pencil. I used to do my hair and pretty face every day but I have some depression issues lately and even getting dressed is a chore. I am in my pajamas all day or just jeans and a shirt. I try to hide it by sometimes getting dressed literally 10 min before dh gets home. I should start trying more. Also my clothes aren't really fitting and don't have extra $ for clothes so thats another reason. Finally got a med rx today to help me out so hopefully that helps...and hopefully I'll lose some more weight

  • I am frumptastic.  I live in hoodies, jeans and Uggs.  I do wear bare minerals face makeup & bronzer every day with some lip balm but I rarely use mascara or eye shadow anymore.  Also I put my hair in a ponytail about 75% of the time or just let it air dry.

I am jealous of moms that look put together all the time.  I wish I had the time and energy but at this point it isn't on my list of priorities.

  • I judge women who get all dolled up to go to the gym.  Like hair and makeup and the whole she-bang.

That makes no sense to me.

I am. I don't roll my eyes, I admire them.

I mean, I think it can go a little far - full makeup and a lot of accessories for Target seems like a lot more effort than I would want to exert. But I admire women who have clearly gotten a haircut recently, are wearing an outfit that does not include yoga pants and look like they maybe showered that day.

I was getting better and then pregnancy pukes hit. Now I just can't get there.

I was also getting better after finally fitting into my pre-pregnancy clothes (18mos post partum and 35 lbs UNDER my pp weight), and then I immediately got knocked up again. I'm now in that stage where regular clothes are too small, maternity clothes are too big. So yoga pants it is.

  • Depends on the day and what the errands are.  I definitely don't get dressed everyday and my hair is almost always up (neat, but up) but I always put a bit of make-up on.  If we are going out for the day and leaving the po-dunk town, I look good.
  • I belive in dressing for the occassion. I roll my eyes at anyone who overdresses.  I'm kind of a natural beauty shines through type of person.  I make this t shirt and jeans look smokin' LOL :-)

this. It makes me feel good to be clean and cute... and it really doesn't take that long. Sometimes it doesn't happen until baby naps, but ALWAYS before hubby gets home or before I go out.

This almost exactly. Except I have to wear a bra. :) Right now I'm in velour pants and a t-shirt. I put on jeans to drop DD off at daycare but when I got back home changed into comfy pants.

If I'm going to be seeing anyone I know (like going to a playgroup or Gymboree, etc.) I do shower, do my hair, put on makeup, etc.  However, if it's the weekend and it's just me and DH running errands and whatnot, I don't even bother.  Hell, I usually don't even shower on Saturday's. Embarrassed

I have "no shower Sundays" if we are staying in.

pretty much this. When I was a SAHM I could pretty much live 24/7 in my PJ's, other than days I needed to go to the store or run errands and I LOVED it. I used to work in a bank where I had to dress up 5 days a week and hated it, so I guess I rebelled. LOL Now I work in an office, where it is business casual, but it's a lot more casual than it was at the bank, so it's not as bad. But I do miss my PJ's, and I tend to wear them from Friday evening to Monday morning (not the same ones all weekend, mind you!) if we have no weekend plans.

  • I wear a little makeup, do my hair and put on at least jeans to go anywhere. I do it because I feel better about myself when I do. I don't know if that means I'm dolled up, but it's what I do.
Mind you, just because I'm dressed with hair and makeup done, it doesn't mean I've showered.... :)

I don't roll my eyes at anyone, who knows what kind of day they've been having?

  • Unless I am going out for an extended amount of time I am in my "uniform".  Sweats, hoodie, hair up.  My husband always jokes and tells me he is glad I dress up for him.  If we go out and about I will do my hair, makeup, and wear jeans.  Espically now being pregnant I dress for comfort.  If I only have to run to the store for milk and bread sweats it is.

  • I do my best. Clothes and shoes are pretty tired looking to tight finances/saving for vacation in May. Plus I am halfway to goal weight; might as well wait 4-6 more weeks to get a nice/new/cute summer wardrobe, and restock for next winter later this year. Hair hasn't been cut since Nov because of finances plus I really don't know what the heck I want anyway (short, long, layers, ack!). I also really think a breast reduction would help a lot with the frumpy factor at this point. Stick out tongue

But I always go out with clean clothes (if I can get the snot/saliva wiped off, who needs to know), hair brushed and basic makeup (Bare minerals, ready in 2min), I pay attention to jewelry/accessories for work, and I'm definitely feeing better from WW and exercising (first 5K in May, fingers crossed).  I want to look better than I do most days, but without a winning lotto ticket it's just going to take some time and patience.

  • I try not to be frumpy but I don't really get dressed up, either. I usually wear jeans, flats, a cute top, and jewelry and blow dry my hair with a little product.

I also try to always get a little dressed up or at least do something besides pjs before hubby gets home...not that he cares I just feel like I let myself go too much already I want to try for him. He says I am silly and look great either way..I do it mostly to make me feel better

  • I always wear jeans out, usually with a t, sweatshirt and tennies.  I brush my hair but I usually pop on a headband because my hair sucks and I desperately need a cut.  I wear sweatpants and pj's at home, a lot! LOL  I don't wear a lot of makeup, in general, but if I have the time, I prefer to put on a little foundation (or bronzer powder) and a smidge of eye shadow or lipstick.

If DH sees me in pj's when he goes to work, I usually try to put on jeans and a bra before he gets home (like pp said).  For me, it's just because I feel a little guilty or lazy (and maybe a little frumpy) when I realize I've been in pj's all day.

Now that I've joined a Mommies group, I'll be sure to be a little more "put together" when I'm going out to meet people! haha  (storytime tomorrow!)

Take a chance. Take a risk. Take the initiative. Make your wishes a reality and make your dreams come true!

  • I do my makeup every day and put on a decent shirt and jeans. My hair either gets straightened or goes up. I do it while shes still asleep or my husband watches her, depending on his work schedule.
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • I don't wear makeup, wear my hair in a pony tail,  and live in Jeans +shirt. I have resorted to wearing tennis shoes (like gym shoes or running shoes) out because DS weighs as much as DD and I carry him all.the.time (27 pounds). Any other shoes kills my back so I got 2 pairs of gym shoes for every day.

Considering I lived in Europe and wouldn't be caught dead looking the way I do living here I definitely label myself "frumpy".

One day I will make an effort again....

  • I don't consider myself frumpy, but I do not get dolled up.

If I am heading out to run errands, I get dressed. I do not wear pajamas or yoga pants out. I try to throw on some mascara, but that doesn't always happen these days.

  • Yep.  I don't own any makeup. Most of my shirts have my college or son's little league team on them.  Hair is in a ponytail most of the time.  The cute moms can suck it!
  • I probably roll my eyes more at the dolled up mom than the frumpy mom. When I say dolled up I am talking heavy make-up, heels etc. When I leave the house to run an errand, my hair is usually up in a pony tail and I have jeans and a t-shirt on. I don't get dolled up as it is though because it's NMS. For work I dress in business casual, do my hair and have minimal make-up (mascara and concealer) but I look silly in a ton of make-up since I look like I am 12, I end up just looking like a 12 year old who is attempting to look grown-up.

  • I guess it depends on your definition of 'frump', but I am sure I fit in there somewhere.

For me, if I am just going out to run errands, I make sure that I am showered, teeth brushed, hair is in a ponytail or, at the very least, brushed, and am wearing jeans and a presentable top.

That being said, I will not be one of the ones in the store with high heels and make-up on.  I save those for the days I am going to work or, on the rare occassion, actually going out for a night out with the girls, etc.

  • Hard to say, I have the choice to dress up for work or wear scrubs. 75% of the time I wear scrubs because its easier. But I do shower every morning and do my hair and make-up. On the weekends I shower and get ready too, usually even if I am not leaving the house. I will not wear yoga pants to Target but I might if I was just running to the gas station. We live in  the counrty, Target/grocery store = town.

  • My uniform is cute, casual, and comfortable: trouser jeans, a sleeveless top (tank top, sleeveless shell, whatever) and a cotton cardigan with simple black loafers and cute waves in my hair. I mix patterns and colors to keep it fun and interesting while basically wearing the exact same thing every day.

    Also, I don't wear make-up. It's just not me.

Lawl. It's the cut. They are typically dark denim, cut like trousers, so a bit relaxed through the hips and then loose in the legs. They look tailored. :P
