1st Trimester

A vent about a TMI subject

I just spent about $40 on products to help my GI system. Ridiculous. I'm one of those people that's very... how you say... regular. Well since I've been taking zofran I am so horribly backed up I can't stand it. Not only am I backed up, but when I go it's like I'm crapping a damn grapefruit, which is horribly painful. So I've upped my water intake and just bought some fiber and colace (and needlesss to say I also picked up some tucks pads and Prep H cream and suppositories).  I am praying for some relief.

On a side note, I was a little unnerved when I opened the suppository and it smelled like chocolate. Apparently it has cocoa butter in it. Made the hot cocoa I had earlier rumble a bit.

  • Have you tried one of those little kiddie step stools?  They work wonders for me!  I'm pretty regular, too, but the stool helps me get into more of a "squatting" position while sitting that allows gravity to assist in the... movement.  I have a collapsible one like this: https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=13990999

Before conceiving a friend and I used to snag her daughter's potty step stool and use that when we went.  She accidentally walked in on me one day and saw me using it and was like, "You use it, too?  That thing is AWESOME isn't it?" lol

Other than that, the only thing that gets me going when I'm stuck is a cup of coffee.

I have tried using a stool but it hasn't helped the fact that my stool is rock hard and huge when I do go and it's become  so traumatizing. I constantly feel bloated, which sucks, and I'm concerned about the amount of blood in the toilet after going. My doctor suggested the fiber and  colace, so I'm praying that'll work. I think the fact that I now absolutely dread going is just exacerbating the problem.

Man, I sure know how to keep it classy, eh?

  • I have been really backed up too so I can totally relate!!!!!  It's awful! I even got some laxatives too .. and sometimes running my lower back will help .. but not always.

  • I was pretty backed up first tri of my first pregnancy and those fiber one bars always helped me. They would give me a bit of a gassy stomachache until I went but it would get things moving. Might be worth trying! :)

  • I feel like I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't, ya know? On the one hand- zofran helps keep some of the food I eat down (not all of it, though) but I think that's the big contributing factor to my problem here. I always feel bloated and gross so I've hardly been eating anything. If I stop taking zofran I can't function because I get so sick... I ended up in the hospital on IV fluids three weeks ago because of it. I expected the first trimester to suck but not this bad. I can't sleep, can't eat, can't go more than an hour without crying, and now I can't crap. Heavens to Betsy I'm at my wits end here.
  • And I bought some fiber supplements so hopefully that'll help. I don't drink coffee so that won't work for me. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed on the fiber and colace.
  • Go buy Fiber One cereal. Not the Bran Buds, but the original. looks like rabbit food, but is f*cking magical. no joke

  • Sorry to hear that you are feeling so horrible. Feel better soon!

  • I had about an 8oz cup of coffee today and it helped so much. Ive also been drinking alot of apple juice in hope that will also helped. I stoped drinking coffee when I found out and that one small cup made me wired today.
  • I have constant diarrhea and I'm not sure which "condition" I would rather have :/  When I have to go, I have to go :(

Sorry you're having trouble, I hope your new products work!
