Hi ladies!
I took a pregnancy test this week and it came back positive (... three times. Lol!) This will be my first pregnancy so I have a TON of questions. I know the next step is to call my OBGYN, but I was wondering about the timing of my first appt. I read on one of the Q&A's that the doc usually won't schedule your first appt until 8 - 9 weeks. So does that mean there's no going in before that to confirm your pregnancy with a blood test? I'm just a little confused because I always thought you take a home prego test... it's positive... and then boom, you see the doc for confirmation. Lol. Any insight would be fantastic! I'm so happy that I'm (more than likely) pregnant and I just feel like it's all gonna disappear. Thanks in advance, girls!
Re: Newbie with a question
Hi there! I am also pregnant with my first and am still getting used to it.
My first appointment was at 5 1/2 weeks, they just had me do a pee test and went over my due date and gave me some brochures/information to look over.
My next appointment is at 9 weeks. They will take blood, most likely do a pelvic exam, and have me do more pee tests for things.
After that I have a 12 week appointment where I believe I will hear the heartbeat and possibly see the baby on ultrasound.
Every doctor is different though, so just call them and they will know what to do!

I just got a positive HPT on 2/29 and when I called the next day, they scheduled me for my first appointment at about 8 1/2 weeks. The wait is going to kill me and wish I knew exactly what to expect. I'm so nervious too!
