Running after an IUI

Hey ladies!

Back in January, I registered for an 8k run at the end of March not realizing that I'd have to have an IUI (my doctors originally thought they'd give me the Clomid alone).

I'm almost done with my Provera pills so AF should be coming in the next week or so which according to my estimations (provided the Clomid works...they give me the Ovadril...and I have the IUI the following day) would put my IUI about a week before the 5 miler.

Anyone have experience with running around the time of fertility procedures? I'd hate to waste the money, plus its the Chicago Shamrock Shuffle and I run it every year with my Dad and cousin's wife because we love the Irish themed runs

I cut WAY back on running when I started IF treatments. That wasn't because my RE told me to - I just did. It's one of those things that goes with the "no regrets." I would say that if the IUI fails and you'll regret doing the run because of it, don't do it. If you won't regret it and your RE says it's ok, do it! GL with your decision!

i would still participate by walking briskly. my re doesnt let any woman doing high impact exercise like running while on treatment.

My RE says don't work out for the 2ww. I am allowed to light walk. Also say no regrets! Good Luck with your decision.

My RE also said no running for me after IUI.

This is what I did. I ran a 1/2 marathon just before starting IVF, and then pretty much stopped running until the whole cycle was done. With IUI's, I ran my normal amount until the day of IUI, then pretty much just walked during the 2WW. My RE says there's no evidence that running causes treatment failure, but I'm of the "better safe than sorry" camp.

Thanks ladies for the advice. I guess I'll have to play it by ear depending on when AF shows up and I can start the Clomid, maybe the IUI will be after the run....but if not, I think you're all right and I'll just sit this year out.
