So.. we had hoped we would find out if we were having a boy or a girl, but the baby is just as stubborn as its parents. The legs were crossed, the cord was in the way.. there was no way of finding out the sex. But I am a HUGE planner and I like to be organized. I need help with colors that aren't too girly, or boyish. The baby's room has red carpet in it, but a lot of our rooms are already red/black/white cuz that was our wedding colors & it's just our favorite color combination. We bought a stroller in red/black/silver cuz my husband is a huge Georgia Bulldogs fan, but I want a different color scheme then we have in the rest of the house! I was looking at a white and black bed set that I love at JCP but there I am back to red/black/white! If anyone has any good ideas PLEASE help a girl out! I would be willing to get a huge rug to cover up most of the red. I really like the brown color combinations but most of the ones I find are blue/brown or pink/brown.
THANK YOU!
Re: HELP!
well yellow works for a nuetral color...you said you have a red carpet...is it bright red or dark?
You could yellow/goldish walls. hmm...I like the idea of getting a brown rug (you can go to a discount rug store and see what they have..) to cover parts of the red....I would get the colors you are looking at and try them out in the nursrey. For example, you could see if you could bring a sample of the rug home form the store and that way you can try as many combo as you would like without spending a huge budget on a rug and bedding.
Hope that helps
First of all, I think it's great that you're forcing yourself to try a new color combination. Good for you. :-)
I just posted these links in another thread, but here are a bunch of nurseries I love that are mostly gender-neutral:

You'll see that some of them have pieces in them (art, toys, etc.) that are more masculine or feminine, but look past those and just focus on the overall look of the room. You'll see it's pretty neutral. Add your own accents after the baby is born to fit his/her gender.
We don't know the sex of our baby, and our nursery is going to be green, orange, and blue. We're not traditional and wouldn't have picked a really masculine or feminine looking room anyway, even if we did know. So I guess it depends on how traditional you and your husband are.
Another girl I know is doing a vintage circus theme. her colors are deep red, sky blue and brown. It's super chic.
Cocalo just released a new bedset called Delilah in red, yellow, and brown. It is incredible, but kind of girly...here's the link. You might want to look at more of their stuff. I think they have others with red.

Red and brown are great colors together and they don't scream eihter gender, you could also throw some yellow or just keep those two.
As far as a theme goes you could choose something like apple tree's or just animals (like a zoo) theme.
