My little Ellie Bea was born on February 15th at 7:31 pm. She weighed in at 7 lbs 4 oz and 19.5 inches. I am absolutely in love and so is her daddy!
She came into the world just one hour before her great-grandma went to heaven.

I went in at 5:30 in the morning for a scheduled induction. They started me on pitocin at 7:15 and I got in a few hours of rest during painless contractions. Around noon, the residents came in to break my water. It was the weirdest sensation ever, and at that point they also gave me internal monitors, so I had to stay in bed. I went from 3 cm to 5-6 cm in about an hour, and the contractions really started to hurt. I decided to have the epidural, but I had to wait because the anesthesiologist was busy and I was the longest hold-out of the morning. I had relief pretty much immediately, but my right side got hit harder than my left and I couldn't move my right hip or thigh at all. It was fine for taking a 2 1/2 hour nap, but when the resident came in to check me at 4 pm and I was completely dilated, I was shocked! Once I got myself sitting up more, it literally felt like LO was going to fall out. My OB finished with her last 2 patients in the office and hurried over, but I just couldn't push because my butt was so numb. The had to turn off my epidural, turn back on the pitocin, and wait until 6:30ish before I was able to feel enough pressure to start pushing. I went from feeling so cocky about how quickly I progressed to feeling completely hopeless about getting her out on my own, but I did it! I did start running a fever at the end and LO had one when she was born, but we both recovered quickly and she didn't have to go to the nursery at all. I'm a little bit bummed out that I didn't get to hold her right away, but overall I had such an easy experience, especially given that I was induced. We are working very hard at breastfeeding right now, but my nipples are super flat right now and LO is just plain lazy about eating. But we are doing much better with help from the lactation nurses.
It still hasn't sunk in completely that she's mine to take home. It is truly amazing and worth all the worry that comes with being PgAL!
