Hi all..this may sound like a dumb question but I was reading my "You, having a baby" book last night ...I read something that put me in complete anxiety mode. Here is the actualy statement I read...
I was on the "20 week ultrasound" page..reading all the tests and ultrasounds they do at this point then read this.. "He's also looking for more ambiguous things like the baby's general tone; for instance, if your baby is lying down in a froglike postition, it could be in indication of Down syndrome."
At my 9 week ultrasound, my baby was lying face down, or so it appeared. I may be reading too far into this but it started to bother me.I'm not sure how to attach a pic so you could all see what I'm talking about and my concerns. Although this ultrasound was only taken at 9 weeks, and this was referring to 20 weeks, I'm still worried.
Re: baby on belly on ultrasound..
Then came a miscarriage March '11
Then came a baby in the baby carriage May 16, 12
Waiting on our second little peanut!
Nope no concerns at all, didn't mention a thing. And at 9 weeks, I'm not sure they could tell anything right now anyway. I haven't had anything done except 2 ultrasounds. I go Feb. 21st for a 13 week appointment and I'll ask all the NT scan and bloodwork questions..it just took my by surprise and I was up at midnight last night researching this, finding nothing about the statement in my book
I had an u/s at 8 wks and 11wks. My baby was significantly different in both of them. At the 8 wk it was just a little "gummy bear" not really moving. Then at the 11wk my baby was really active and wiggling around. Really I don't think that you can compare your baby at 9 wks and 20wks. It is going to be very different.
I think ya'll are right. 11 weeks does make a significant difference. This makes me feel better thanks!
At my 12 week ultrasound (NT scan) my baby was lying on his belly too. It scared me but the doctor said that's so normal. The baby will flip around and lay on it's stomach, back, sides and move around a lot especially since there is so much room right now. He actually flipped back over onto his back towards the end of the scan but he was definitely laying on his belly with his head face down. lol.
Besides... a "frog like" position makes me think of a more awkward looking position than a baby flipped over on its belly. I am sure everything is fine! Some of these books put more fear into our heads than encouragement. I stopped reading them for that reason because you will find yourself analyzing everything. Just relax and enjoy...I'm sure everything will be fine

that's so great to hear! and my ultrasound doesn't look like a frog at all, but he/she is definatly face down. I guess I overanalyzed this ..like I always do!
Thanks ya'll, reassures me!
