The processing of baby cereals negates any natural nutritional value of the grain. Instant oatmeal isn't much better. Rolled oats are okay. Steel cut oats are your best bet.
We grind the steel cut oats in a coffee grinder and then cook it on the stovetop with BM and fruit. For added nutrition we put in ~1/4 tsp of brewer's yeast. It does take a few minutes.

Re: Is the Gerber oatmeal whole grain?
She's old enough to eat your oatmeal now.
But yes, Gerber oatmeal is whole oats and then some other stuff (oils, potato, vitamins).
My LO loves regular oatmeal mixed with banana and yogurt and cinnamon.
