Lily Rose...is it too much?

We are less than 3 weeks away from having our team green baby and we are still debating girl names. The middle name is set. We will use Rose which was my mil's middle name and its important to DH to honor her. For a first name, I thought about honoring my mother since this will be her last grandchild. Her middle name is Susan which means Lily. So we are considering the name Lily Rose. I love the family meaning but Is it too flowery? I can't decide.

I think it is too flowery and a little movie-esque. Why not use Susan, which is a great classic name?

I think it's a little much. What about a variation of Susan like Susannah? Or an Su name like Summer/Sunny/Suri? It's kind of a reach but so it using Lily.

I just can't get on board with Susan, Susannah, etc. I just dont love those names. I agree that Lily may be a stretch honoring my mom. Sigh...girl names are hard!

It's a pretty name but agree it's too flowery.

It actually doesn't strike me as too flowery. Would Lilian Rose be better, and call her Lily? What are your mother and MIL's first names?

I actually quite like Lily Rose, and I think the meaning kind of trumps any sort of "over the top" quality this name might have, especially since people don't use middle names all the time.

Even though they are both flowers - it doesn't strike me as flowery. It's kind of cutesy, but I feel like said together with the LN as well, it's not going to be noticeable as "OMG FLOWERS".

It's really ok, go for it.
