DS is finally starting to say his own name! He calls him self "Duh-guh-guh," because he can't say "Diggory" just yet.
And when my three-year-old nephew got a baby sister (Corinna), he could only call her "Cuh-winna." So adorable!
Did anyone else's kids have cute names for themselves or their siblings before they could pronounce the name correctly?
Re: How did your child first pronounce his/her name?
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

When DS was little he pronounced Elijah like Eyishah. When DD was little she pronounced it Eshishah. Neither ever pronounced Evie wrong but it took a long time to convince Evie that her real first name is not Evievangeline.
Laura is kind of hard to say for little kids, so it usually ends up Wauwa. A neighbor kid growing up called me Laurla. Luckily, my family nick name is Lew, which is a little easier to say. My niece used to call me "Auntie WOOOOO!"

Sable calls herself "Zee-Bowl" and some times just "Bowl", I love it.

My sister is Elisabeth. When she was younger she called herself Bobiss. We all assumed it was because she couldn't say Elisabeth, but one day she was talking about a character on TV and correctly said Elizabeth. I asked her to say her own name, which she again pronounced "Bobiss," and I asked her why she was saying her own name Bobiss when she could clearly say Elisabeth. She told me that she didn't like the name Elisabeth and just liked Bobiss better. lol.
I dont have children yet, but I have a lot of younger cousins! My name is Astrid and a lot of my family is southern so it comes out rather weird so they all call me either Shay(MN) or Boo Boo. Since children usually have a hard time with my name my cousins have always called me Boo Boo. Actually none of them know that my real name is Astrid and look at my mom funny when she calls me by my name! Honestly like they have no idea who Astrid is, but when anyone says Boo Boo they know thats me! Haha
My cousin that is 11 days younger than me used to call me asprin.

I like science. Here's proof.
My sister Teresa went by Tweesa for, well, actually quite a while when we were kids, and my brother, when asked his name, would respond "SHARK" or "RACECAR," his two favorite words when he was two.
When DD was born DS was almost 2 and called her Hey hey (Haley) for the longest time, its still a nickname we use for her now and she is almost 5.
His name is Evan. It started out as Ah-veen but now it's pretty clear.
He's really close to my BFF and calls her Sassy. Her name is Shelli. He also calls my SIL Deese and her name is Denise.
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
She says her own name (Kate) pretty well. Katherine is a little harder... it is more like "Kass-rin".
The cutest name is my sister who is Joanna but goes by JoJo. Kate couldn't say her name for a long time and it was always "Auntie Choo-Choo". That stuck

Cute post!
Our 2yo like-a-niece calls herself Kay-iss (Kadence) and her brother is Taw-sin (Dawson). Weird, because she says "Daddy" and DH's name (Dan) just fine, but she doesn't pronounce the D in Dawson.
My little cousin had a speech impediment when she was little. My mom was Ta-win (Karen) and I was Butch (Brooke). That one has stuck. Yay....

Noelle doesn't say her name yet, but sometimes we think she says her best friend's name: Ly-ah=Aliza. She also calls their dog Tuh=Tuck.
I've been called May-me before, and my name is Kami (prn Kay-me).

Cute post!
My little sister (6 years younger) couldn't say "Jennifer" when she was younger, so she called me Foofer. It stuck for a bit and my other sisters were set she was saying "Pooper". Ughhh...that was not fun! ha!
My nephews called me Aunt Enn for the longest time. And my sister Amanda they call Aunt Duh. That stuck. Now we all call her duh.
Aaron is nearly 2.5 and he also has a speech delay (catching up thanks to EI) and he calls himself "Ah-yin" (not Aah but Ah like apple). It's pretty cute.
I figure Aaron is a tough name as it is and with my NJ accent mangling it (sometimes comes out Air-on) and he has a friend in daycare named Erin... lol
