Do you consider it a problem? I have a "fireman's hose" as a friend described it the other day or in other words. I spurt milk a lot when DC starts feeding. She handles it pretty well, but sometimes gets overwhelmed with the let down. I pump occasionally when she sleeps through a feeding or if I feel that she hasn't drained the breast. Do you think I should stop doing that? What have your doctors recommended? Do your doctors think it is a bad thing?
Re: Does anyone produce too much milk?
My early BF days while still home were very much like you describe. I stocked up all the extra milk and STILL use it for emergencies and days where I skip a pumping at work, or for weekend trips when I am away from her on errands, etc. Completely normal, and you should continue w/ your schedule so as not to harm supply. Keep it up!!
Yes I have always had an oversupply. It has just started evening out recently at 4 months. It's odd to have a normal person's supply. I always spray DD during let down when she pulls off to cough and choke, poor little thing.
I built up a nice frezzer supply and then slowly weaned myself off the pump. Now I don't have to pump every day. The more you pump, the more you make so if you don't want too much of an oversupply only pump to comfort not to empty.
