How bad are blue die tests?

I took one tonight and I am still a little early to test, but it definitley came back with a second line to make the positve (but it was very light and thin within the time frame). It is a walgreens brand, and I know I definitly broke the rule of not reading it after the time frame but I did and the blue second line is still faint but darker then before. I will most likely test again Friday morning with a FRER to make sure and I really don't want to get my hopes up. The reason I tested early was because my nipples have been sore for the past few days, and wanted to see if i could be caused by pregnancy. I hope you all don't think I'm phising cos thats not what I am trying to do, I am just wondering if it is stupid to possibly get excited yet, or if I should just consider it negative and wait a few more days. TIA

How many dpo are you?

I am completely clueless on the pink vs blue dye debate, but I always went to a digital when I had a questionable result. There is no arguing with a clear "PREGNANT" on the screen. If you are 10 or more dpo , I would say grab youself a digi and test with FMU.

I don't want to burst your bubble, but I got a clear + on a Target blue dye, and I was NOT pregnant.

I got a suuuuper faint positive line on a target brand blue dye test, three times. Two days later I bought a pink dye test and it was positive. Here I am 15 weeks later

) So it's very possible you got a BFP, but I would still stay cautious and make sure you spring for a better test. GL!

I'm 11dpo. And Luvmy2sons, thats what I am worried about is that it is pretty much a false positive. I am hoping that it is really a real positive, but I will probably have to wait a few more days before I can know for sure.

Thank you. I am hoping that it is still positive when I test with a First Response in a couple days.

Same here - I love the digital. I'd say go get a two pack of digitals, take one now to help with your current hopes and anxieties, and save the other for 14dpo.

How is it that I've never heard of this blue vs pink dye debate? All I've ever heard is "a line is a line!" Thank goodness I didn't stumble on these unaware. Yikes.

I got a pretty crushing false positive on a blue dye test. If it did show up on the blue dye it will for sure show up on a FRER so I would definitely try that instead.

Thank you so much everyone. I am about to drive myslef crazy wanting to test agian in the morning, but I am kind of wanting to wait til atleast friday. I have 1 FRER left and not wanting to waste it. I know I can go get more, but at the same time I don't see the point in wasting it if I can manage to wait til Friday.

The month before I got pg the second time, I was a week late for AF and there for convinced I was pg. I took a blue dye test (walmart brand) every day for a week and they were all very clear BFNs. I went to my GP and she confirmed that no, I wasn't pg. The following month I had one test left and I got a faint BFP on 14dpo. I confirmed the next day with FR digital. So, in my experience blue dye tests do work.

I hope this is a real BFP for you! I say go confirm with a digital, though. GL!
