DS has tried (& tolerated) just about every known allergen except shellfish (shrimp, crab, lobster, scallops, mussels, clams, etc.) We're in Ohio, so the seafood we get here is usually frozen & not the greatest. Still, I'd like to get all potential food allergens out of the way.
I plan to ask the pedi at his 2 yr. check up, but I'm curious at what age your LO tried shellfish.
Re: When to give shellfish?
I'm pretty sure she had scallops and crab around 9ish months? Definitely at a restaurant when that was what I ordered for dinner.
I'm highly allergic to mussels (can't even touch them) so those she won't get until she's old enough to clean, cook, and eat them herself because I can't deal with them.
We only eat lobster in the summer, so she'll have that this summer, as well as steamers (small clams).
I hate shrimp, so it isn't something I would cook, buy, or order so she'll have to wait on that one too.
