Did anyone else get stinky pajamas from TCP?

I usually just lurk here, but I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. I ordered a bunch of the adult size pajamas for H's family, mostly as a joke because they were all saying how comfortable they looked when they saw DS in his.

Anyway, they smell so bad. I should have just returned them, but instead I decided to wash them thinking it would get the smell out, and now they smell even worse, like you can still smell the odor, but it is 'covered up' by the soap smell.

I used Tide with Febreeze. Did anyone else have this problem or do you have any suggestions?

    i'm guessing they smell from the shipment from overseas. I have noticed a fishy smell to boxes when they come in.

    What kind of smell?  How bizarre.  I would try running them through the machine again, filling both the fabric softener and the bleach dispensers with white vinegar to try and help get the odor out.

    I don't know how to describe the smell. It's not really a fishy smell, more like a musty smell, but REALLY strong. Like as soon as I opened the box it was overwhelming.

    I will give the vinegar a shot. Thanks everyone!

    Yes!  It was kind of a chemical smell, if I remember correctly.  It was on some toddler pjs I bought there about 4 years ago.  I *think* the smell came out after a few washes, but it was so long ago that I honestly don't remember.

    Yes! I didn't notice it at first but DS1 put his new pjs on and said ew these stink! I smelled them and they did smell, but I couldn't figure out why. I was just planning on washing them again. FWIW I bought them in the store a few weeks back, I might see if I can exchange them if the smell doesn't come out since I'm not the only one dealing with this.
