BRU Vent

I wasn't a big fan of BRU to begin with and will now be driving out of my way to BBB to finish my registry after my experience today.  DH thinks I'm over reacting, but here's a few examples.  So grateful for BBB and Amazon! 

Last week, the car seat was on sale at BRU online, we went to the store thinking we'd get it, and when we ask the sales guy about the price, he informs us that they only match other store prices and don't match their online pricing.  I just thought that was silly, but whatever. 

Fast forward to today, I got my summer video monitor and when I registered, I must have scanned the pink one.  I wanted to exchange it for the same model that is silver so I could use it for future babies.  They insisted I had to pay taxes because my friend had bought in at another BRU where sales tax was 1% less.  Seriously?  It's an exchange, same item and same price, but for your "inventory" system I need to pay more money?  I get it was only $2, but still it felt like throwing away $2 for the sake of their systems.

  • Unfortunately, sales tax issues are the law.  I work in retail and get really annopyed when people don't understand that sales tax laws are beyond our control.

    ditto to this, It works the other way too, if you had exchanged it somewhere where there was no tax and your friend had paid tax...they would have given you the tax back. I live in Mass but close to NH where there's no sales tax so I run into this often.

  • Ditto the pp. Plus I have been to many stores (baby and non-baby alike) that won't match online prices. Sorry you had to deal with it though!

  • welcome to the world of retail (and state laws)...  i worked retail for 5 years and used to get so mad at people who would argue over a couple bucks in tax.  not our fault or the stores... it's the state.

  • The online thing is strange. We did the same with our mattress as we were in the store, but it was cheaper online. As long as it didn't say "ONLINE ONLY SALE" they should've matched it without hesitation. :-(
  • I hate BRU too.  I've had so many problems with my registry there.  I thought that people weren't having my registry scanned when they were purchasing items, so I ended up with duplicates of things.  I also purchased several items off my registry and had it scanned, but all seven items are still on there!  I've complained, but to no avail.

    My last straw was over a diaper coupon.  Long story short: I had an $8 off any package of pampers 92 count or higher.  The manager wouldn't let me use the coupon on a tub of over three hundred diapers.  She kept saying "You're trying to buy a TUB, the coupon says PACKAGE"

    A tub is a package.

    Whatever.  I wish we had BBB near us :(
