I've been trying to get an idea of what style of name DH likes so we can start getting some names on our list (because he's so ridiculously picky and has vetoed EVERY single name in the top 1000). He said he just wants something "edgy." So he's been making up names or pulling them from geographical and botanical names (Penna and Yarra are the ones I've mentioned on here before).... Most of his suggestions are at best odd and at worst horrible.
I'm not even sure I know what he means by "edgy" (I don't know if he really knows either), but an example of a name he likes is Ever (I really liked Everleigh/Everly but he said it sounded too old fashioned, so he suggested Ever). Other names he likes are Pencey, Zelee, and Catcher. The more normal names he likes that he considers edgy are Vera and Cora, but he doesn't like them enough to name our DD that (and I don't like them either).
Does anyone have any ideas for uncommon "edgy" girl names?
Re: Need some "edgy" girl name suggestions
What is your other DD name?
How about...Rossie, Elsa, Merit, Enya, Joss, Lyra
Famous mommy blogger just named her twins:
-Reverie Lux & Boheme Shalom
I think of those as pretty 'edgy'. Also, she has another daughter called Fable, also something I think of as 'edgy'!

Our first DD's name is Finnley. My DH loves that name and describes the style as "solid" - he just wants something edgier than that for our next DD. Some of the names I really like - such as Emerson, Emory, Harper, and Everleigh - he considered to be too "matchy" and similar to Finnley. Aargh.
You can try my old favorite - Moxie
Keep us updated - very curious on what you'll pick!
Ivy was on our short list until we got into IVF.
I like Harper with your DD's name!
I also first thought of Aspen.
I love Jovi! Reminds me of Elf
Seven.
Its my guilty pleasure name but hubby shot it down.
The first names that came to mind after reading your post were Zora and Zara. They kind of feed onto the Yarra thing and sound similar to Cora/Vera, but are legit names.
Other ideas:
Dagny
Danica
India
Lola
Sable
Saffron
Sloane
Willa
Wren
Ziva
Can you talk him into Harper? I think Finnley and Harper make a nice "edgy" sibset.
I don't know if it's "edgy" but what about Harlow?
Paisley one of my favorites
but Poppy and Pepper are cute too
my daughter is Phoebe and im trying to figure another girl, when i find out what we are having.

ETA:

Acacia
Lilou
Bluebelle

Bellatrix (a guilty pleasure name of mine)
Danica 10.22.10 | Milo 12.23.12
Scout (guilty pleasure of mine... I think it would go great with your other daugther too)
Blair
Lux
Piper
I love her blog! (And naming style, might I add.)
Love, love, love, love Fable.
Montana, Aria, Ave, Harbor, Dove, Lark, Muse, Scout, Sailor, Rue, Bay, Ismene
I'd look at flower names maybe.
Alium
Amaryllis
Aster
Celosia
Dahlia
Fern
Iris
Ixia
Jonquil (I knew a woman named this. BEAUTIFUL woman. I was very fond of her.)
Lavender
Lily
Magnolia (may be stretching it)
Narcissus
Petunia
Sage
Willow
Zinnia
Those are all names of flowers, so they are "edgy" and some of them have been commonly accepted as names for a while. I don't hate the idea of going to non-name places to find a name (geographical or botanical). Obviously someone did it at some point with Lily and Rose and Petunia, so why not with others? (Also, I may be wrong and the flowers are named after people, but I don't think so with those. LOL)
These came to mind for me:
Greer
Harley
Sadie
Jezabel
Quinn
Sloane
Collins
London
Willow
Aspen
Nadia

I was going to cite this, but you beat me to it! While she was pregnant with the twins, she had a post with a whole bunch of names she was considering, and a lot of them were pretty out there. If you sifted back through her blog you could probably find it, and it might give you some good ideas.
