In light of the recent Target story and nurse-in, I was just curious what public place(s) you've BF in/at? And have you ever encountered comments or rude looks by people?
I have BF at a restaurant, the zoo, Blackhawks game, police department (getting a report - haha - nothing serious) and plenty of parking lots. Probably the most public place was Germanfest (in fact, I walked into the mass there BF my baby where there were thousands of people seated in the amphitheatre). I used to always use a cover but now DS keeps pulling it away so there's no point.
I feel fortunate because I've never encountered any rude comments or looks from others and I'm happy for that because I would have some choice words for someone.

plane, restaurants, library, street, and yes, even Target
I'm trying to think of someplace I haven't BF her.... grocery store? Then again, DH does all the grocery shopping.
Probably the strangest were a car dealership while negotiating buying a car, or at a post-season Texas Rangers games where you sit so close your elbows are touching your neighbor.
But I've BF all over the place! I almost tried to do it with her in the Ergo while walking around the grocery store the other day, but I lost my nerve. I need to practice doing that one once at home and then try it in public!

Everywhere, including on rides at Disney world. I BF in restaurants, stores, outside. Wherever I am when my child needs to eat. I used to use a cover but my DD rips them off now, so whatever.
I've never experienced any negative comments or anything like that. I can't imagine what I'd do if that happened!

same here. DH still seems uneasy that I am so readily to do it anywhere, I"m not sure why. and yes, I dare someone say something to me about nursing in public, ha.
wow I feel like a terrible BFer
I tend to schedule my outings around feedings so I don't have to do it in public. I'll do them in a nursing room or in my car in the parking lot but never really anywhere else outside of home or family/friends homes (and at friends if there are too many people I'll go in another room--but that's more due to the fact that A gets too distracted).
I used to always have a bottle pumped on hand anyway so it was never an issue...but now I can't really pump out as much so maybe I'll be nursing in public more. I guess part of me doesn't want to deal with a rude/negative comment. Unlike many of you I'm a pushover and would probably just blush and say nothing.
I will BF anywhere.
Funny story: A few months ago we were in church, and DD got hungry, so I fed DD. But right in the middle of DD's feeding, the communion service started. I didn't want to interrupt DD's lunch or have her interrupt church by screaming, so I told my DH to go ahead and that I would skip communion this 1 time. Well, the pastor saw me and brought communion to me, while I was feeding DD- and we were sitting in the very back row! The whole church turned to watch me partake in communion with DD latched on! I didn't care, and apprently my pastor didn't either!
Target, lol.
Mall, restaurants, in my car in numerous parking lots. The most beautiful place though was at a Hueco Tanks state park when we too our family photo. It was an amazing feeling being free and having my baby feed freely.
I use the Ergo to feed a lot, makes it so much easier and I don't have to sit to feed him.
Ok, break it down for me - how do you do this? I have never attempted feeding while DS is in a carrier but we have the Ergo and I woudl love to know! Isn't the head up way too high? Or do you just let the straps out until he's lower?
I too use my ergo to nurse everywhere..
You simply loosen the straps, so the baby is mouth level with your nipple and then begin nursing! Super easy, super convenient. Yesterday in the mall I was walking and nursing and a man was very creepily looking at me. I was having an off day, so I told him to get fvcked. But other than that, i've never had any issues.
Yep, just loosen the straps. I also will use the head cover if I feel I need more privacy or drape a loose blanket over. Practice at home first. Once you do it in the Ergo you will love it.
everywhere!
airport, airplane, zoo, sea world (quite publicly during the shamu show), target, restaurants (including right by the window), park benches, during weddings, during a memorial service, at the grocery store, sitting in my front lawn, during a street fair... the list goes on.
