3rd Trimester

Worth going to LDR to check?

This is my second child and I'm 29 weeks pregnant.  About a week and a half ago I had a bladder/UTI, and had to take antibiotics for it.  My problem is the cramping that came with the infection hasn't gone away.  If anything, it's gotten worse.  I'm having a combination of round ligament pain, really bad hip pain and really bad cramping, and it's almost constant.  Should I go in to my hospital to make sure nothing's wrong or wait until Monday and call my doctor?  I didn't have anything like this with my daughter so I have nothing to go off of in terms of normal for this point.  He seems to like being really low and she preferred higher up.

  • If it were me, I would go to the hospital!

  • I was having severe pain today and just read up on "Round Ligament Pain". How it was described was exactly what I was feeling. I've had them previously in this pregnancy but they felt a little different. Today they felt like how it is described on the websites. However, along with that pain I was having Braxton Hicks Contractions as well. After laying on the sofa for a few hours I am feeling better. If they come back I'll be calling my Dr just to make sure everything is alright.

    Hope you feel better!

  • Does your DR's office have someone on call or a 24 hour number?
  • I would call your doctor's office and leave a message with the answering service so a doctor will call you back and you can explain what is going on.   You can also call L&D at the hospital and speak with the nurses.

  • Infections can be a catalyst for pre-term labor, so I would call.
  • I've gone to L&D once to be checked on and went into my doctor's office another time unexpectedly, both times for weird pains/cramping. What they've told me is that once I have pain and get checked for it and everything is fine, that becomes my baseline - any pain that is at the same level I don't call for, anything worse, I have to call. If yours is worse th what it was when you first went in then I would call.

  • Went in, and got checked.  Happy healthy baby and I'm having pain from over exerting myself.  Apparently chasing a toddler isn't the light exercise that mothers are encouraged to do during pregnancy :)
