I think they Penn State students protesting are insane. A crime was commited they should be happy Ole Coach Lou wasn't investigated or charged with covering up a crime like this.
Just because you have a bad headache does NOT mean you have migraine! A migraine and a headache are two different things.
I am not "crazy" for having a med-free birth and it is not appropriate to tell me I am.
Totally agree with you on these two Sharon
When I had regular cycles before/between pregnancies I would have HORRIBLE migraines - vomiting, vertigo, etc. literally would have to stay home from class (even in high school). I was prescribed to vicodin for them and it still didn't help.. I just had to wait it out (for days)

I think that is part of what annoys me. People that just have a headache and call it a migraine have no idea how bad a migraine actually is. I use to get them when I was a teenager (haven't had one in several years, thank God! ::knocks on wood::) and they were so bad. I would vomit and couldn't tolerate any noise or light. I would also get the floaters in my vision which were really disorienting. DH's coworker claimed to have a migraine at the start of a lunch meeting the other day and ate pizza and stayed at work all day, sorry that is NOT a migraine.

I feel the same way when people get a case of the sniffles and say they have the flu. No, no, you don't. If you had the flu, you wouldn't be walking around complaining about it, you'd be huddled at home on the couch incapable of mustering the energy to crawl to the bathroom. I've been there.

This reminds me of my husband, and just about any other man I've ever known. They sneeze and are dying and incapable of doing anything. It's probably one of my biggest annoyances of dh because he is so overly dramatic if he isn't feeling in tip top shape.

This is MIL and SIL. No common colds for them! Bronchitis, pneumonia, flu, etc. But you know what? An upcoming party/event is the cure!;)

I'm as chicken as they come yet I would have raised holy hell right away, not sat in the sidelines waiting for the public opportunity.
Oh I just know I will be flamed to death for this one...but
It really weirds me out to see moms nursing babies over a year old. I know it is good for them and recommended until 2 and so on. I know all of those facts. But, seeing this talking, walking, fit throwing 2 year old with teeth breast feed is just weird to me. But hey, what's normal, right?
And my UO is that I hate text speak and I really hate it when people substitute numbers for words in a text message. I do not enjoy deciphering words that do not exist in the english language, and I type complete words and sentences in every text I send.
I am right there with you! I used to type full sentences, but then realized the whole purpose of texting is to be quick. So I gave in and started using some of the text language. However, it is still readable! My FIL sends these texts that make NO sense! Me and my DH will be trying to decipher it and all I'm thinking is, this man must be drunk! I don't know what language he is using when texting but is even worse than the normal text language!

I agree! My texts are always in English, and it's not hard! I will sometimes use ppl or pprwork which doesn't actually save any time, but they're acceptable to me. My sister is the world's worst, she not only uses text words... she leaves out have the sentence, it'll say "gng to shop eat at bgr kng & hv lttle me" that means (after I call to ask) I'm going shopping, plan to eat at burger king and I'll have the little one with me. Whatever, lol.

I double dog dare you to post that on the AP board... we could spend all day watching that drama unfold...lol. They were talking the other day on that board about how upset that her son was self-weaning at 26 months... I mean, come on.. I'm all for choices, to each their own but seriously? IMO, I don't think it needs to stop at 1 year, depends on the baby, but 13 months old is still a baby... but I'm with you, when they're toddling around and eating pizza by the slice, boob needs to be put away.

This too! I totally get on DD#1's case when she does that because I *know* she will develop a horrible habit. Same goes for repeatedly purposely misspelling words to be funny. I told her that she is an intelligent teenager and she should show it.

I think putting an 8 month old on the potty after every meal is ridiculous. And old friend posts a daily picture of her baby on the potty. He will be one in March. I just think it's ridiculous to PT a baby boy and then ask me why my 22 month old is still in diapers. Seriously?!?
oh and I still hate Taylor Swift.
What? I have never heard of this.....I don't believe you can PT an 8 month old, so what exactly is the point that I am missing here? Oh and P.S. I think Taylor sucks too! How she ever got a record deal is beyond me!

I may get flamed with you but I agree. There is a mom in our moms group that still nurses her DD and she turned 2 in September. She still nurses ANY time her DD asks for it. I totally get nursing at night or to put them to sleep as long as you want but anytime, anywhere at that age is a bit much to me.
My UO is I don't understand the parents who walk into Chick-fil-a(or other fast food place with a play place) and send their kids straight to the play place while they order and then beg/bribe/threathen their child to come out the play place to eat their food. First of all, it makes me nervous for my kids to be out of my sight in a public place. Second, you are the parent why are you begging and/or threatening(but not following through) your child to come to eat. My kids stay with me while I order, eat their food, and then they can play.
In most of the jobs I have had they would say you were abusing sick leave if you took off anytime you had a migraine (a lot of times they strike on Fridays and Mondays), so I was at work plenty with migraines. Granted I didn't eat pizza or anything- more like sat in my office with as many lights as possible out and did nothing because my vision would get screwed up with them. People who claim they have migraines when they don't annoy the crap out of me because it's them that caused me to drive to work with screwy vision and somehow force myself to get through 8 hours just so I wouldn't get fired. At the same time, I wouldn't say someone is faking it or have a regular headache/don't know what a migraine is just because they are at work.
And my UO is that I hate text speak and I really hate it when people substitute numbers for words in a text message. I do not enjoy deciphering words that do not exist in the english language, and I type complete words and sentences in every text I send.
Since this was said, it brought back a UO that always bugs me.... In addition to the text language, The Bump language also is annoying. I have been on here for 13 months and still can't figure them all out. I also can't understand for the life of me why when you speak of your husband it is DH. I know DH means Dear Husband, but why don't you just say my H? If we are going to shorten words, I don't understand why we added parts to it. Oh and there are abbreviations that are the same for two different words! I learned the other day that DD meant Dirty Delete, but it also mean Dear Daughter...........but whatever, I'll continue the madness because I am a follower [:oP]

I agree with this in all instances! I have a good friend I literally stopped going to public places with because her kids are hellions and they are hellions all because of her! We were at the mall and were gonna eat and then go to the play tree thing and her almost three year old kept screaming in her face(he does this all the time) and she told him about 6x that if he continued we would not go play. We get done eating and what does she do? "Ready to go play?!?" He threw a fit the whole way to the play place also. I just do not understand people who can not discipline their children. I know that three year olds are going to be testy at times and that is fine. But if I tell you to not scream in my face again or we aren't playing, believe me we AREN'T playing, and I might pop you in the mouth for it also!

I get what you're saying about the play place, I never will beg/threaten my LO to eat, if I say they have to eat, then they have to at least stay at the table... might not force feed them, but I will not beg my LO to do anything.
However, at a play place restaurant... I am the type that always lets my niece and nephew play while we eat, the whole time and don't worry about them eating at all. They'll come to the table, grab a bite and then off to play again, and they can eat on the way home... or when we get home. I think life is short, they have all the time to eat, but play places are too cool to sit and watch other kids play. (I'm talking 4 years old and up, know they small ones need to eat on time and such).
I'm all for choices, to each their own but seriously? IMO, I don't think it needs to stop at 1 year, depends on the baby, but 13 months old is still a baby... but I'm with you, when they're toddling around and eating pizza by the slice, boob needs to be put away.
This cracked me up. I am imagining my 2 year old taking a bite of pizza, then leaning over for a little boob at the dinner table.

That's why I tend to call him my H. DH just never looked right to me for some reason. I also lurked for a while and picked up most of the lingo, but there are some that still make me have to stop and think about it. FTM (first time mom) still gets me every. single. time.
LOL! I usually google the abbreviations and lots of times it comes out with the answer... but the other day IHOSM got me good, could NOT figure that out and google was of no help! Also the UO that we're posting on, I have thought about it and still don't know what it stands for, lol. I just read that people were annoyed at stuff and started in on the fun! )
Well, after reading through everyone's UOs, I'll add two more.
I find it really annoying that people think nursing after 1 is weird.
And I also find it annoying when people find things that they don't really know anything about annoying -- e.g. putting an 8 month old on the potty. It's not potty training. I put my baby on the potty several times a day. She knows what it's for. She goes if she needs to. She also still goes in her diaper. Yesterday I caught a huge poop in the potty. Man was I happy not to have to deal with a poopy diaper (she hadn't pooped in almost 3 days). I still put her in diapers and I don't stress about the potty if I forget or don't have time to put her on. I guess I don't think it's a big deal either way and I don't get why it bothers other people.
ETA: This is the UO post, so no hard feelings I hope.
You sound extremely judgemental here. You say you find something annoying and then you follow it with saying you don't know why people find things they don't know anything about annoying. You don't know anything about my backstory to my UO.
Since I know you were referring to my post, I actually do know about her situation (which my UO was about). I asked her if they were PTing already and she explained her process and she asked why my 22 m/o wasn't PTed.
I wasn't commenting on your situation- I was commenting on a SPECIFIC situation, which I addressed. I also never said it was annoying.
I guess I am being judgemental, but I just think putting a six month old on the potty is just wasting everyone's time. Why not let them be little and pee in peace? )
Herman Cain and these sexual allegations.....why do these women wait YEARS to say something? Is it because of the presidential campaign? Had he not taken this route in his profession career would they have stayed quiet? In no way am I saying that he shouldn't be held accountable for his actions. I disagree- The National Restaurant Assoc. women did speak up when it happened- hence the settlement. And I do think him (or any other politician) running for president should bring people "out of the woodwork" who have founded claims about past moral character issues. I'd rather know that my next President is going to treat everyone decently.
And my last point- through all this scandal- Cain made yet another gaff yesterday night at the debate- calling Nancy Pelosi "Princess Pelosi". How in the world you say that knowing full well the world is associating you with harassment against females is beyond me.
Well, after reading through everyone's UOs, I'll add two more.

I do not think putting your baby on the toilet is annoying. I guess I just do not understand the point/logic behind it. Do you mind explaining? I love learning about new techniques moms do!

Ditto - I never make the kids sit and eat first. We walk into Chic Fil A, my 3 yo runs off to play and I go order. I'm not too worried about her being out of my sight...its a pretty small place and she's in an enclosed play area. I sit with the food. Generally, she'll come eat when she's ready but I have no problem bringing her food home with us.

There is this wonderful invention called a breast pump. You can pump your breast milk and put it in a cup for your toddler. All I can think of is that video years ago of the like 8 year old girl that still breast fed. I am all for breast milk and the benefits, I just don't think children have to drink it through the boob. IMO, It's like weaning from a bottle.

Ha! My little guy can do all of that. And I am sure your opinions are quite popular. I'm sad that people are so weirded out by it, but it works for us. I wouldn't, however, be upset if LO decided to wean soon.

Well, I feel pretty dumb now. I guess because I didn't BF it never occurred to me that some women pump and give their two year old BM in a cup. So here is another dumb question. My pedi told me that most formulas are made so similar to BM these days. Which is why my DD has seeds in her poo just like a BF baby, he says. So if they say to stop formula and go to cows milk at a year old, why do they not recommend the same for BM? And for the women who DO let the baby still nurse from the breast, how is a natural nipple after a year old any better than a bottle nipple after a year old(referring to babies supposedly needed to drop the bottle at a yr) I am not trying to be snarky, this is just something I really have wondered, but never dared to ask! Thanks!

Haha! I agree, I wouldn't say stopping at exactly a year but soon after a year. There's is something so creepy to me when your child can ASK for the boob!! Oh and I'm not bump smart, what's the AP board?
You mean when they can unbutton their mom's shirt on their own to get to the boob? Why on earth would that ever bother you?
AP=attachment parenting
Ha! My little guy can do all of that. And I am sure your opinions are quite popular. I'm sad that people are so weirded out by it, but it works for us. I wouldn't, however, be upset if LO decided to wean soon.
Thank you for being rational and not getting offended. Personally, I wish I were more comfortable with people doing it too. And honestly, if that's what you want to do then more power to you. My real opinion on this is if that works for you, great, just don't shove it down my throat like I'm a horrible person because it's my choice not to. I know a few people who are so hardcore bf'ing that they now make me uncomfortable to be around because I haven't chosen the same path they do.

Herman Cain and these sexual allegations.....why do these women wait YEARS to say something? Is it because of the presidential campaign? Had he not taken this route in his profession career would they have stayed quiet? In no way am I saying that he shouldn't be held accountable for his actions. It just seems that this stuff happens, years pass, their name gets in the news for something and accusers come out of the woodwork. Not ONE of them spoke up earlier? I'm as chicken as they come yet I would have raised holy hell right away, not sat in the sidelines waiting for the public opportunity.
Thank you for the clarification:) It is something that seems to happen all the time, whether locally or nationally and this one just kind of got on my last nerve. Ahhhh, election season. Only 362 days to go! Lol.
My mom types "y" for yes and it drives me crazy because I read it as "why". One day I asked her a simple yes or no question and she kept replying "y". I eventually replied back "Damn it mom what is with all of the questions?"

I do agree with you that sometimes "famous" people have real crazies come out of the woodwork to claim silly things- trying to ride on their coattails- get their 15 minutes of fame. I just don't think that this is one of those instances.
I don't have a UO but just wanted to say that I BFed both kids past 1 and am damn proud of it.
I got the side eye from everyone and remember my friends being like "um, you need to stop BFing now" when I told them I was still nursing DS at 15 months. I do see how people think it's weird and that's why I don't take much offense to those comments but at the same time I think it's an awesome thing and wish everyone felt the way I do.
1) Like PP have said, breastfeeding toddlers weirds me out. I don't get not pumping it into a cup (and I both BF'd and pumped so I get the hassle of pumping but it's a brief period in life)
2) I don't get moms strolling through busy parking lots who are oblivious to their small children frolicking 10 yards or so behind. Seriously? Hold their hand or at least keep them where you can see them! So dangerous.
3) I don't get people under 40 who can't figure out the self check lane at the grocery story. Even if you're illiterate, there are pictures and the thing TALKS to you. Why get in that lane and slow it down if you don't know what you're doing?

I by no means want to get in a political debate with anyone. However, I have to say I am always torn with these kind of sitauations.
When the victims wait until years later, and coincidently when the person enters the limelight to come out I always fee like there could be something shady going on. Ever thought that maybe another represenative has paid these people to make allegations? Or, these are people who see an oppertunity to get money from someone? I hate to think this way but the world is so full of awful people like this, I can't help it.
Politicians are so shady, I wouldn't put it past them. And unfortunately there is always somone out there trying to get money for doing nothing, even if it is moraly wrong. Lastly, I could be wrong about this, but aren't the allegations that he made unwanted advances at the woman? What difference is that than a man coming up to you in a bar trying to take you home when you don't want to? Do I think it is right that a married man would make unwanted advances at a woman? No. However, if I made an issue about every man that has ever made an unwanted advance toward me, I'd have to live in a bubble.
Re: UO Thursday
I have lots of them this week! (I think I might have some PMS going on so everything is annoying me)
Just because you have a bad headache does NOT mean you have migraine! A migraine and a headache are two different things.
I am not "crazy" for having a med-free birth and it is not appropriate to tell me I am.
I find the "pictures" (the ones that have little sayings or "facts" about things) everyone is reposting on facebook to be annoying!
I think they Penn State students protesting are insane. A crime was commited they should be happy Ole Coach Lou wasn't investigated or charged with covering up a crime like this.
Get a grip.

DD#1~8/17/96------DS~10/24/05

What? I have never heard of this.....I don't believe you can PT an 8 month old, so what exactly is the point that I am missing here? Oh and P.S. I think Taylor sucks too! How she ever got a record deal is beyond me!
Ha! Exactly!
This cracked me up. I am imagining my 2 year old taking a bite of pizza, then leaning over for a little boob at the dinner table.
LOL! I usually google the abbreviations and lots of times it comes out with the answer... but the other day IHOSM got me good, could NOT figure that out and google was of no help! Also the UO that we're posting on, I have thought about it and still don't know what it stands for, lol. I just read that people were annoyed at stuff and started in on the fun!
)
I guess I am being judgemental, but I just think putting a six month old on the potty is just wasting everyone's time. Why not let them be little and pee in peace?
)
THAT is ridiculous. Why would anyone post daily picks of a kid on a toe-let. There is no reason for that.
Ha! My little guy can do all of that. And I am sure your opinions are quite popular. I'm sad that people are so weirded out by it, but it works for us. I wouldn't, however, be upset if LO decided to wean soon.
LOL! My husband travels out of the country a lot so we chat on AIM frequently. The other day I mentioned something to him and wrote SAHM. He totally called me out! "That's straight from The Bump isn't it?" LOL
Thanks!
Thank you for being rational and not getting offended. Personally, I wish I were more comfortable with people doing it too. And honestly, if that's what you want to do then more power to you.
