Yeast infection with no symptoms, possible?

Is it possible to have a yeast infection with no symptoms...no burning, itching...all I have is a white discharge that is milky-which I thought was normal.

Anyone deal with a similar situation?  If so, did you treat it?  Are Monistat 7 creams safe to use?

Re: Yeast infection with no symptoms, possible?

  • I've had creamy white discharge, a more watery clear discharge with white flecks in it, and even a very thin -- almost watery -- cloudy discharge. All three are considered normal if there's no foul odor or any other symptoms of infection.

If you really do think you have an infection, I'd recommend having your doctor order a culture before you self-treat.

  • I have had 2 yeast infections the last two months. the only symptom i had was when we were trying to have sex it burned so obviously we stopped and the dr said it is yeast. The dr gave me a prescription for a 7 day cream

  • Yes it is. I had my first Yeast Infection at 23 weeks. I had creamy white discharge {seemed normal..it was just discharge} but it got watery - so we called the OB. We were sent in to L&D for fear of my water breaking only to find out I had a Yeast Infection. Turns out I'm allergic to some of the major ingredients...so they had to give me two days of a low dosage. I'd call your OB if you have questions. :)

  • I had a recurring yeast infection for 7 weeks during 1st trimester, and after trying every natural and OTC product they make, I was prescribed Diflucan at 14 weeks. While it's controversial to some, the benefits far outweighed the risks for me, and it was cleared up in 1 day! I haven't had an issue since.

However, yes, it is very possible to have a yeast infection with no symptoms, but your milky discharge sounds like what I experience now, and I do not have a yeast infection. My midwife has said it's just normal "pregnancy discharge".

  • Ok, this sounds nasty, but smell it.  Does it smell like bread?

  • I was told by my doctor that I had a yeast infection but no symptoms (normal or what i thought was normal pregnancy discharge). I was given a 7 treatment by doctor to use.

  • They are fine to use. I suspected that I had one and it was confirmed at my OB appt. They show up on your urine dip.

  • definitely possible..I had bleeding after sex, went to the hospital and they told me I had a yeast infection. Don't think the blood had anything to do with it, just a tender cervix but I had no symptoms for a yeast infection.
