I have been getting some smack from people about drinking caffeine while pregnant, and I just have to say that caffeine isn't going to do much to the baby. Well there isn't much proof of it anyway. I have gotten coffee from coffee stands and what not and they always ask if I want it decaf. If I wanted it decaf I would have asked for it that way. Sometimes they give me decaf anyway. I have been a Batista for about 10 years; I can taste the difference. Thank you for wasting my time coffee stand!

Re: Caffeine... vent
I am kind of the same way... I have one can of diet cherry coke a day (but lately I cant drink all of it for some reason) but I firmly believe that if you can have 200-300mg of caffiene a day then why not?
btw... not to be mean or anything... but if you were in the business for that long you would know its a Barista... Batista is a pro wrestler lol... (but Im sure it was just a typo)
Actually the studies that say that caffeine in excess is bad aren't even as conclusive as other studies about other risks. My mom had POTS of coffee when pregnant with me and I turned out just fine.
Regardless, you're allowed to have 200 mg a day! Screw the critics. Wrong or right, kit's your decision.
Thats the dumbest thing Ive ever heard. You need another doctor.
Maybe so.. I am going to ask her specifics on that study when I go back.. It's really been bugging me.
My doctor says that 300 mg a day is safe (I never drink that much but that's what she said was the limit). A can of Dr. Pepper has 45 mg, so you would have to drink a lot of soda to reach the 300 mg limit (sorry don't drink coffee so I don't know the caffeine content). The point is drinking some in moderation is ok.
OP that is ridiculous if they are switching your coffee at the coffee stand.

That doesn't sound scientific at all and goes against the advice that pretty much every OB has given to any of us on the BUMP.
Anyway, I didn't drink coffee for the first trimester because it made me feel sick...and now I'm half a cup 3-4 times a week because OMG it helps the constipation so much.
There was a time (like when my mom was pregnant) that women were told to not drink any caffeine during pregnancy...that's why my father was shocked to see that I was drinking tea at 7 weeks. I just calmly explained to him that it was fine.
