I can't watch/read the news anymore...

It just affects me way too hard. When I read stories of children being hurt or killed, I just can't get it out of my head.   

And in cases where the child was hurt/killed by someone, I just want to hunt the predator down. And I'm not a violent person.  I also can't stop thinking about what they did, as much as I try. It grieves me so much.

I used to be able to separate myself, and while stories would make me sad, I wouldn't take it to heart so much.

I guess that's what motherhood does to you? I see children and think of my own daughter... I assume that's where the grief and rage at the criminals comes from.

 Thanks for letting me ramble...    I couldn't go back to sleep after DH left for work at 3:45, and I made the mistake of reading a news story about the murder of a local 3-year old child... and it just.... ugh.

    I have had to take a news break on occasion too, I also can't watch any crime shows, L&O, Criminal Minds, CSI, etc.  Hope you are able to get some rest.

    Oh my gosh I watch Criminal Minds and L&O (SVU) all the time. I am psycho-obsessed with our safety now. I swear every person I see my first thought is "what if...". I think I need to jump on your wagon and QUIT watching them.

    I have a hard time with the news lately, too.  This baby Lisa story is really killing me.

    Me too, and to make matters worse, I live in Kansas City, so I hear every single update whether I want to or not.

    I've become the same way since getting pregnant! Also, Law and Order:SVU used to be one of my favorite shows, but since getting pregnant, I can't handle it anymore. The thought of children getting hurt is too much for me to handle, even if it's not real.
