Bed time routines/Baths

So with all the talk of establishing good bedtime routines, does everyone really bathe LO every night? Is it a little harsh on their skin or do you not use baby wash stuff everynight? We're on an every other night schedule for baths but seeing as my nights have completely unravelled in the last week I'm thinking I need to get a more consistent routine. I'm thinking one night just a warm bath with no 'soap/baby wash' the next night use the soap? I realize this is probably stupid, chaulk it up to sleep depravation... TIA

Re: Bed time routines/Baths

  • I bath my LO every night. I heard that it's ok for their skin as they get a little older. I use lotion in the morning and at night too. He still has perfectly baby soft skin. We've had trouble with him sleeping since day 1 and I really think a nightly bath has been the only thing that helped us get somewhat of a routine established.

  • I also bathe my baby every night. I take a bath when my husband gets home after we have had dinner, and about 20 minutes into it, my husband brings in our baby.

I use soap every second night, unless he has cheese neck....
I use organic baby oil by earth mom angel baby (also use their baby wash) and it keeps his skin super soft and hydrated.

He thrives when there is a routine, and he loves massage time. It's a win win, we are both relaxed and warm when I sit down to nurse/rock him to sleep.

  • I too bathe everynight...I usually alternate between just warm play baths or soapy ones...I only use lotion at night and his skin is great!  I'm sure that will vary baby to baby though...

I love bath time with him and the lotion massage afterward...I think soaking in the tub is the perfect way to end everyday...if only I could do that for myself! lol

  • I was bathing him every night (using dove sensitive bar soap) but last night we skipped it because i have noticed some dry spots on his legs, he slept fine, actually stayed in his crib till 1am (usually starts rolling and fidgeting at 11-12 and have to co-sleep for the rest of the night). when he was super tiny i would alternate soap one night and just warm water the next. but the reality is sh*t happens, things change a few days they are awesome and then WHAM they are having meltdowns every night before bed. but it doesn't hurt to try it out

  • I bathe him every night and use baby wash every night. His skin is fine.
  • I bathe mine every night. There have been a few occasions where we haven't been able to put her to bed until later than her normal bedtime and we skip the bath. It might be a combo of keeping her up too late and skipping the bath, but I think she sleeps better when she gets a bath before bed.

  • I give B a bath every night and use the body wash, shampoo, then lotion after.

  • We have Soap Nights and Splash Nights at our house.  Lotion always after though.

  • Holy smokes, everyone said every night! lol.. we do every other, no plans to change, it isn't impacting bedtime one way or another.

  • My baby isn't a fan of bathtime.  he gets a bath about once a week, but every night as part of his bedtime routine I use a baby wipe all over then vaseline (he has very dry skin).
