LO has had the sniffles for almost 2 weeks now. No other Sx other than nasal congestion, otherwise you wouldn't even be able to tell. I've been putting him in the bathroom with the hot water running, sucking up all the snots with the Nose Frida and putting a couple drops of non-medicated saline water. But still even after I use the Frida and it seems nothing else it's coming out, you can still hear all the congestion in his nose. Am I doing all I can? Something I'm missing? Should I even call the pedi, and when? I just feel bad that it's hard for him to nurse or sleep with all that up in his nose
Re: Should I call de Dr.?
If there's no fever, your pedi won't do anything so that would be a waste.
Sounds like you are doing all you can do, except for putting a humidifier in his room. Do you have one of those?? It really helps.
Oh, and use those saline drops before each feeding. It really helps clear my DD out, because as she sucks, that saline makes it's way into her nasal passages.
GL.
I don't. I have a Vick's waterless vaporizer but I don't think it does much. I have a humidity monitor and I've been boiling water to get the humidity in the house to where, according to the device, it should be for colds. I'll have to get me a humidifier for the bedroom.

considering i am a hypochondriac, i would call the pedi....for peace of mind and even if they don't think it's necessary if you to bring LO in, they could possibly give you more advice for at home care.
GL! hope LO gets better soon.

Apparently the east coast has a huge amount of mold this year because of all the rain and moisture. If you can hear the mucus and the Nose Frieda isn't sucking anything up then it's probably a post nasal drip.
I was also told that it's probably not beneficial to use a humidifier at this point because the humidity only gets low when people start turning the heat on and stuff.
This is all via the nurse line and not from a pedi, so take it with a grain of salt I guess.
I hope your LO feels better soon!
