Gender Reveal Ideas??

I was looking into the cake idea and I think thats cute But I was wondering if anybody has any other ideas?? And no, I dont want to do the boring same ol same ol, just text or call everyone. Both our families are very both excited and anxious to know what we are having, so we want to have fun with it! :)

    We put a "it's a boy" balloon and blue Hershey kisses in a white gift bag with black tissue paper and had our mom's open them. It was great to see their faces :)

    We did cupcakes rather than cake [I made them, chocolate cake white frosting with pastel sprinkles on the top and pink filling]. Had everyone bite into them at the same time and see the pink frosting. Thought it was a little more fun than just 1 cake

    For us we took my parents out to lunch so we really couldnt do anything too crazy. Anyway, after DH and I found out we went and bought a pink and purple pacifer for both of my parents to open. They were really surprised and thought the idea was cute.

    We also want to do something fun to announce the sex since this is the last one we will have.  I am going to have a little gathering of all who want to join in the fun and invite them over for cupcakes with the sex/color coordination in the middle with frosting.  I'm not making it a big bash, just a kind of gathering where my guests can come and eat a cupcake to find out.  We will tell everyone else via phone/email after we do the cupcakes for those who couldn't come or didn't care to.  We are only expecting like 10 people who may want to participate!

    When we were originally going to do a big reveal, we were going to have balloons at each table at the shower.  Half of the tables would have pink, the other half would have blue.  We were going to have all of the pink table people pop their balloons so that only blue remained.

    We won't find out the sex of our baby until December 7th, the day before my birthday. My husband will not be able to go to the appointment So I'm going to have the US tech put the results in an envelope, and I'm going to take it to a baker to have them do a cake for my birthday. Then my husband and I are having a birthday dinner, just the two of us, to find out if it's a boy or a girl. We leave the following day for New Orleans to take a week long babymoon cruise to Carribean. We get back on the 17th, and will travel straight to his family's house for their Christmas. We're going to have a large box all gift wrapped with a pretty note on one side saying "Baby Bollinger is a..." Then when his parents open the box, we're going to have a boy or girl's outfit hidden at the very bottom under layers of pink and blue tissue paper, packing peanuts, and whatever else we can find to annoy them. We'll do the same thing to my parents on Christmas Eve. The fun part is going to be making our parents wait weeks to find out because we will be out of communication for a whole week, and it is the first grandbaby on both sides so they're very anxious to know what they can start buying for the baby.

    My inlaws will be in the middle of a 2 week cruise when we find out the gender. I called the cruise line and we are going to order a bottle of champagne with a card that says, "We hope you are having a wonderful trip! Love, ME, DH and your grandson/daughter". The champagne and card will be delivered to their room. I love it because they won't have cell pohone access during the week so there is no way they will know the sex until the gift gets to their room. Plus, my mother in law is bummed that she will be gone for the a/s.
