Primrose oil pills

So I go into my doctor appointment today. They always take a urine sample, never tell me what for. The doctor hands me a paper telling me to start primrose oil pills at 35 weeks. I'm 37 weeks along, 38 this Friday. I read online its best to start them at 37 weeks, so that assured me a little that I'm fine. Are they really that effective?

    Urine is to look for protein and sugar, which could indicate kidney dysfunction related to pregnancy induced hypertension/pre-e. There is mixed info on EPO. If your body is ready, some info says it can help to soften your cervix.
