Congratulations! I so sympathize with the nausea and smell sensitivities.  Your nausea will be a lot better if you make sure your stomach doesn't get empty, so keep some bland snacks near you at all times.  Also, there are these amazing candies called preggie pop drops that help with nausea too.

I wish I could tell you that you'll feel better soon, but usually feeling sick lasts up until the end of the first trimester, and some women have it the whole pregnancy.

I see you're new, so heads up that the kind of hostility that hijacked this thread is really common here.  Don't take it personally.

  • This is my first pregnancy, and the doctor that im seeing, sees her patients at 10 weeks. We found out that we were expecting at 4 almost 5 weeks. Up untill now ive had no morning sickness. This week it has hit me HARD. for 2 days i havent been able to eat anything but popsicles, crackers, and drink Ginger Ale. I take prenatals, but im worried that it isnt enough for the baby.... I try to eat, but i cant bring myself to without having to rush to the bathroom. As for relief from the morning sickness, ive tried Sea Bands.... so far its not working. Im ordering some Preggie Pops, so i have my fingers crossed that they will help take the edge off so i can actually eat something. Im just scared that my baby isnt getting what it needs. =( any advice?

  • Don't worry ladies!!!! Your baby is fine!  Your baby is getting the first nurtrients and you are getting the rest! :-)  I thought the same when I was pregnant with my daughter but the dr re-assured me that all was well!  This too shall pass and then you will want to start eating EVERYTHING! :-)

Good luck in your pregnancies and try not to worry!!!  I can't wait till I hit the 10 week board!  Then I will be past where I had the miscarriage last year!  I am trying not to worry about that as it is out of my control but still kind of hard.  Yesterday was the one year anniversary!  Just trying to keep smiling knowing this one is a sticky baby! :-)

jessica, you are awesome.  Thank you for the sweet words of comfort.  Good luck to making it to the 10 week board.  I'll keep you in my prayers.  For that matter, I'll keep all of us in my prayers.

  • I am actually feeling the same way you do. I am hungry but can't eat anything, any food or smell of food make me throw up. I am misserable and i want this to pass so bad. Hang in there they say it will get better but i am not so sure at times. :)
  • I am sick too, I am repulsed by the thought of anything cooking, especially red meat and my sweet husband is trying to cook for himself and me as well.  Fruits have helped a lot, especially citrus, they say some women feel better even after smelling a lemon.  Surprisingly, the heating pad for 15 min also helps.  My lower back aches, too.  The most positive thought for me though, is that your nausea means your pregnancy is progressing.
  • Of course, I'm freaking out now as I'm not feeling very nauseous at all.  I actually feel quite ok.  I have aches and pains here and there, and dry mouth, all the time, but not very sick.  I feel tired and that I could sleep all the time and my breasts are annoyingly large.  They were sore, but that seems to change day to day, now they aren't.  I guess for me it's just weird, as I thought I would feel a lot more ill, and have aversions to a lot more things, but I don't.  This of course makes me freak out more that something is wrong, but I try to reassure myself that it will be ok..  I had an appointment with my midwife at 6 weeks and we could see the heartbeat, and heard it a few times (the AC in the room was very loud making it hard to hear), so although that was reassuring, I'm still holding tight and nervous until my next appointment at 10 weeks..  Anyone else not super sick?

  • Hi

I'm so glad I read your comment because I'm not super sick too!! I have soar breast and really tired all day but that's it!!! I'm 7 weeks, next week is my appointment so I don't know anything yet!! I'm freak out but I'm always like that!!! jejejejjeje

    GOD BLESS MY BABY!!!
  • Not very sick but almost eating everything in sight to keep back the times I do feel ill.  My problem that I'm hating is the headarches.  Can't figure exactly how to stop them from coming & don't want to take a lot of meds to stop them.  I drink a lot of water which I thought would stop them but that isn't working.  Any ideas????
  • Hello to all!! I just recently found out I'm pregnant over the weekend and had it confirmed at the doctor's office yesterday. My husband and I are so exited about this baby. I have a 9 year old son that I had on my own when I was pretty young, so this will be the first time I have a partner there for me during the pregnancy.

What are you thoughts on when to tell people about your pregnancy? We have reservations on telling people this soon. Also, are there any working moms or working soon-to-be moms? When do you think you'll tell your boss and everyone at work?

     Thanks! Big Smile

  • Congrats to everyone on the babys!! I am 7 weeks and 1 day, today. I am so excited this is my first. I have been sick too. All day sick and nothing seems to help. The baby doctor wrote me a prescription and it is the only relief I have gotten from the nausea.

About telling people that your pregnant I always heard you should wait until after your first trimester, but I didnt. I told everyone, even my boss. lol Hopefully everything continues to go good, b/c I couldnt help myself. I think that it is really when you want to tell people.

  •  I don't plan on telling my boss until I am at lease 13 weeks so I know I am over the hump of loose it.
  • My week 7 has been horrible, Can't sleep well, feels like I'm getting my period constantly (on and off cramps) and the nausea started. FML. The sore boobs are the easiest. <3

  • I'm relieved to read your post. I am week 7 with my first and I don't have an appt with my dr for two more weeks. I am freaking out over everything. I too don't have much nauseau. I have it very briefly in the morning so I avoid water and opt for a few saltines then I'm fine. My boobs are bigger, more sensitive but not tender (although I would not want a bear hug). I have a friend who had a m/c at 8.5 and didn't know it until 10 when the dr couldn't get a heart beat. I just want to know ARE WE OK??? I have been completely incapable of focusing on my job since I found out I was pregnant. Feel like I'm on an island doing this alone. Reading posts here helps.

  • HI Mrserinoelle..

I"m entering my 7th week tomorrow and I am not feeling sick yet at all either, so lucky you got an U/S tho! Mine isn't until week 9! These 2 weeks are dreadfully too long! I just get lower back pains in the evenings, on /off  cramping, on/off headaches and been REALLY tired, especially in the afternoons, early evening and then night time I sleep (except when I wake up twice to pee now).

I'm hungry a lot , I snack a lot and eat random stuff, but I figure as long asI 'm eating something it's okay , until I get nausous and dont eat as much.

  • Hi there...

I'm in the same boat as you.  This is my 4th pregnancy and unfortunately, my three previous have all ended in miscarriages.  In reading through your post, I read about many things we have in common.

Like you, I also have aches and pains here and there but no am sickness at all.  My symptoms this time have been frequent urination, breast tenderness and fatigue.  I am just at 7 weeks and because of my history, I freak out at the smallest thing.  I saw the OB last week and saw the heartbeat on the ultrasound and she scheduled my next visit for the 27th.  Yesterday I noticed my breasts weren't hurting anymore and that sent me into total paranoia because this was how all of my miscarriages started with a decrease in symptoms.  I immediately called my OB who saw me today and thank goodness, but everything is still ok.  I got to see the heartbeat again.  I've also lost my babies between 5 weeks and 8 weeks so this time is critical for me.

Because of my history, I am high risk (also my age) and not having strong pregnancy symptoms makes me nervous as well.  Also since I am high risk, my OB sees me every week until I get into the second trimester.  I am currently on medical leave and on bedrest and the waiting kills me.  It's hard enough to wait each week for my visit.  I couldn't imagine having to wait a month.

I will keep you in my thoughts and hope that everything goes well.  Is this your first?

  • I'm also just starting my 7th week. I've been feeling nervous since I don't have the usual pregnancy symptoms besides sore breasts (and I don't feel they have really grown), peeing more and i've been in bed by 9 every evening. Its weird to say but right now a bout of m/s would be comforting! :s
  • Not sick at all, this also freaks me out. I'm a little tired, but I that's just kind of normal for me. I have some cramping, breast tenderness that comes and goes also. I'm definitely emotional, tearing up about things I would normally not tear up about. And what is up with the zits! Good Lord! This is just strange for me also. I'm not complaining about not being nauseasous 24/7 though believe me!

  • Hi Shawnee,

This is my 1st pregnancy.. nausea kicked in like 2 days ago at night and then went away! My breasts are sore but one has a benign cyst in it now so I'm paranoid that one is slightly bigger than the other.. and it's more itchy and tender..

I'm also nervous, my first OB appt isnt' until week 9.

I am so sorry for your previous losses and am happy to hear you have an OB looking out very carefully over you.. I hope your partner is helpful with meals/cleaning so you can rest your body.

I know what you mean about the weeks going so slowly! I just want week 12 to come to know that we all made it through the critical time period.

Thinking of everyone and wishing us all good health..

  • I am also a NYC commuter and find the subway the worst!  I'm so paranoid that I'm going to get a wave of nausea and be trapped inside a crowded train.  I'm finding myself running to grab a seat so I don't get dizzy.  I can't wait until I'm showing so people will give up their seats!

It is comforting to read these comments too as I am not feeling many symptoms either.  It makes me nervous.  I am not really nauseous and have had a few days of being really tired and none of my pants fit, but other than that, I'm almost forgetting that I'm pregnant.  Agree that a little morning sickness might comfort me a bit!  These weeks are going by so slowly.  It doesn't help that when I went for my first u/s, they told me I was only 6 weeks when I had thought I was 7 and a half!

  • Hi everyone...this is my first post...hurray!! Big Smile

I have morning sickness all day long however I yet to actually throw up! I still want to eat everything as usual...

My pants are getting tight, I have headaches on and off and some dizzy spells. I also get cramps and feel like Im getting my period but I guess thats normal.

No zits and zero breast growth or tenderness. My first u/s isn't until October 24, we are very excited!

Is there anyone out there who's breast haven't changed at all at week 7?

  • What is wrong with everyone on here??  Geeze, I just joined about 5 minutes ago ano and y'all are acting like sharkes!  I thought this was a website for women to support eachother?  Either this thread is not a good first impression or I seriously need to rethink "The Bump."
  • Thank you! I'm trying to figure out how this works.  I had my first Dr's apt yesterday & they called me this a.m. to confirm I have a "strong number" and are "a strong positive", so we are def. preggers! Woo whoo for the confirmation visit! Big Smile

I actually like all the changes, even if they are nausea & painful. It confirms that the little miracle inside is happening. I smile at the reminder. At 36 and this being my first, I just feel so blessed. Congrats to all!

  • Im not sick either mrs erin!! I feel lucky but also feel like an outsider! I guess we should feel lucky...My boobs are super sore too and cant sleep on my stomach anymore because of it...oh well im sure well be fine!

    Happy Heather having a baby!!
  • Hey ladies! (sorry, I am replying because I don't know how to post a new comment!)

I am 7 weeks today and I'm already showing....is that normal??? I thought you were not supposed to show until about month 3!

My boobs are sore, little nausea, no vomiting, little food adversions, lots of peeing, a few emotional breakdowns while shopping!

I am so excited, I can not focus on anything! Its my first! We had IVF and will find out Monday if we are having twins!

  • Hello Everyone,

I'm also not having a lot of symptoms lately. Although, I am still super tired and my breasts are tender but that's about it. I almost feel a little down somedays and I'm wondering if it is because I am so tired. Before I found out I was pregnant I was exercising 6 days a week. My husband is nervous about me running and tripping or doing something to the baby so I've cut back to walking and light weights which doesn't give me that good feeling that the gym used to... Can't wait to get to 12 weeks so I at least have some other people to talk to about this other than my husband! Good luck to all of you out there Big Smile

  • I am just starting my 7th week and luckly have not had any nausea.  I have experienced heart burn and spotting the past few days.  Had an ultra sound Wed and heard the heartbeat so all is good.  I feel as long as I don't let myself get hungry I do ok.  Definatly try to keep healthy snacks around.  Oh one more thing.  My Brother gave me Shaklee Chewable Calcium magnesium tablets and they work GREAT for the heartburn.  Plus they are loaded with good vitamins you need.

    Hope you feel better!

  • This is my 3rd pregnancy and each time my boss was one of the first people I told. It is nice for them to know in case you are very sick or (God forbid) something happens and you need time off. By telling your boss now you are protected since morning sickness does not require a Dr note if you miss work. Everyone else I have not told until around 12 weeks (unless they figure it out) best of luck to you!
  • I am already showing too! Crazy!!! I remember showing early with my other babies but not this early. Good to know I'm not the only one. That is going to be one of the 1st things I ask the OB about at my visit on the 24th!
  • First day of week 7! Very queasy today and tired. Definitely the most morning sickness I have felt thus far...

  • Don't feel bad!  I'm not super sick either.  No morning sickness, and actually my breasts aren't even super sore, just a tiny bit tender.  Mostly I'm just tired, thirsty and crampy.  I have known since 4 weeks, and only had a brief dr visit to confirm through blood...which they did, however the hcg was low which of course I'm worrying over too!  I go for my 8 week OB visit 2 weeks from today, but will not have an ultrasound until 12 weeks!!  Feels like forever!!! :)  Just wanted you to know I was right there with ya.  Hugs.Smile
