Baby hates rice cereal!

So my pedi had us start our LO on rice cereal a couple of weeks ago, then had us start him on fruit and veggies not long after.  My LO LOVES his fruits and veggies, he actually opens his mouth anticipating the next bite and when it doesn't come soon enough, he gets angry.  It's really cute.  But, he will have NOTHING to do with the rice cereal.  I've tried everything from changing the consistency, to mixing in some fruits or veggies with it, and he still just spits it right on out and refuses to open his mouth.  All he wants his is bottle or his fruits/veggies.  Has anybody else had this problem?  I've thought about oatmeal instead, but is that a good alternative to the rice?  Any advice would be great, because I feel like I am all out of ideas.

    Id try the oatmeal. My son hated the rice too, but liked the oatmeal. I just mixed it with either juice or breast milk.

    If he already eats veggies there is no need to continue the rice.  It's just for practice.

    Do you want to eat rice cereal? It's pretty much wallpaper paste.

    I'd say your kid is smart enough to know what he likes.

    I'd actually introduce something with animal iron (like egg yolk) if you're worried about nutrition. It's easier to absorb than the fortified cereal. You can thin it out with breastmilk/formula.

    I wouldn't give it then.  You could try oatmeal, but your LO hates it, don't push it.

    Had the same problem. I give LO rice cereal with half of a fruit mixed into it with his morning bottle. He HATES the rice cereal. One day I randomly thought, hmmm... wonder if he'd eat the baby food or is he just not ready? He LOVES his fruits and veggies but will refuse rice cereal after a few bites. I try to give him as much of the rice as I can and once he won't take it I will give him the left over baby food that I didn't mix it. I did just purchase a few boxes of the oatmeal so we are about to start trying that! Hopefully it works better.

    If he hates the rice cereal stop giving it to him. You can always try again in a few weeks. Oatmeal is wonderful so you can try that.
