CLICKY: To flip or not to flip?

Re: CLICKY: To flip or not to flip?

  • No I don't flip her back over. When she first started doing it I did but that is because she would scream and cry to be flipped back over but now that she is comfy sleeping on her tummy I just leave her. I do ALWAYS stat her on her back but she flips onto her tummy and wiggles all around the crib on her own so I just let her be.

  • FINALLY just gave into not flipping him back this week, he sleeps like a rock but I sleep like a feather, I keep waking and shining my Itzbeen timer light on him lol. Usually he will only last 4 hours in the crib before I co-sleep but last night when I left him alone he lasted an extra 2 hours! He still makes me nervous because he will wake and rub his face into the mattress (so that is when i usually pull him out and co-sleep) but i watched him correct himself. He's just not as confident in going tummy to back yet so once that happens I will completely leave him be in his crib

  • I SS'd. DS can roll from his tummy to back, but not back to tummy. I have been putting him on his tummy to sleep since he was 6 weeks old Surprise because he wouldn't sleep any other way (He was waking every 2 hours, the first time I put him on his stomach he slept 6 hours straight).

And the bad mom award goes to . . . ME! But I feel so much better since I started sleeping all those weeks ago. . .

  • I voted SS - We have the magic sleep suit.  He can't roll over in it!  If you are concerned I would highly reccommend it!! I don't have to worry about it for now and when he gets older he will def. be a back sleeper!!

  • I did for 1 night, then realized how dumb it was to do that.  She rolls all over her crib now and sleeps however she's comfortable, which is usually on her stomach or side.

She sleeps 9-12 hrs straight at night.  And I've been sleeping all night too!  :-)

  • SS - When DS started rolling, he started with back to belly but it took him a few weeks after that to figure out how to go from belly to back.

If he rolled to his belly when sleeping, we didn't move him. He knows how to move his head from side to side.

However, eventually he'd get uncomfortable and want to be on his back again. We could hear him trying in vain to flip back over, but he couldn't do it on his own. So we had to go in and roll him to his back so he could go back to sleep.

Now he can go both ways on his own and we no longer have to help him when he gets frustruated.

  • We only roll him back over if he's getting crabby being on his stomach. He can roll both ways but for some reason at night he refuses to roll himself onto his back even if he wants to be there, so we have to help him out.

  • I picked SS. I have been rolling her back but that's only because she just started rolling around a few days ago and she doesn't actually fall asleep on her stomach, rather she cries till I flip her back over.

Mine has been sleeping on her tummy since 5 weeks so don't feel bad at all. Actually my problem I am having now is that she is flipping on to her back in the middle of the night and waking up. Argh now thats annoying!

  • SS.  DD sleeps on her stomach.  She rolls both ways, and I actually have to flip her when she rolls onto her back because she won't sleep more than a few minutes like that.
