That is my question. Since we're trying, I've switched to half-caff coffee, really cut down on pop, and tried not to drink alcohol between when I think I may have ovulated (still a mystery) and the start of my next cycle. Have you ladies cut down, too? Quit caffeine and alcohol altogether? Thoughts?

It's not necessary to cut out all caffeine and alcohol when TTC, it's a personal choice.
Also, if you're having trouble knowing when you ovulate, I HIGHLY suggest charting your temp (click on my shamrock ticker) to check out how to start. It's the only way for you to know when you O. Good luck.

I drank coffee and soda during my pregnancy
, so no I didn't cut down when we were TTC.
I will continue to drink alchohol until I see that BFP. You don't share a blood supply until 6 weeks. If I had stopped drinking when we started TTC, it would be almost 6 months since I had a drink...not gonna happen.
There have been many posts on this topic and the consensus has been that there is no consensus. Some people do and some people don't.
Personally, I don't drink caffeine or alcohol but I used to before I started spending tons of money each cycle on fertility tx. Now I am afraid to do anything at all that could even remotely effect our chances.
TX: IUI #1-4 = BFN + 1 c/p
IUI #5: Clomid 100mg + Bravelle + Trigger + B2B IUIs + 800mg Progesterone = BFP!

I only cut back on soda. I still have my 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning, and have a glass of wine about 2-3 times a week. I've heard the saying here "drink til it's pink!" And that is what I am doing.
ETA: left out the word heard
I'm just starting to chart. I've read the important chapters of Taking Charge of Your Fertility and bought the basal therm. Waiting to chart everything- CM, etc.- til start of next cycle. Thanks!

I stand corrected. Just read this on the American Pregnancy Association...
The placenta is responsible for working as a trading post between the mother's and the baby's blood supply. Small blood vessels carrying the fetal blood run through the placenta, which is full of maternal blood. Nutrients and oxygen from the mother's blood are transferred to the fetal blood, while waste products are transferred from the fetal blood to the maternal blood, without the two blood supplies mixing.

I never realized this... I feel like I've always heard people (not necessarily here) saying the blood supplies mixed. Glad to know the real answer!

Since nobody can give you a definite answer on how much alcohol and caffeine is okay to have and when to have it, I have cut down on both, not entirely, while TTC. One cup of coffee a day and a couple of drinks here and there. I have found that the two weeks leading up to ovulation are even harder for me than the dreaded TWW so I don't want to make them even more miserable without caffeine and alcohol the whole time. After ovulation I pretty much lay off both but I'm not always perfect and I think that's okay too.
