2nd Trimester

For those not finding out gender, what are you doing w/ nursery?

DH doesn't want to find out, and I'm undecided.  I want to know so I know what to get for the nursery because I'm not a huge fan of gender neutral.  But also the thought of it being a surprise seems nice too.  Just wondering what others who aren't finding out are doing about their nursery?

Re: For those not finding out gender, what are you doing w/ nursery?

  • We did an aqua and yellow nursery with a loose "You Are My Sunshine" theme.

  • We have a brown crib and a blue-washed painted dresser from ds that we are leaving in there.  I honestly don't plan on painting until after baby is born.  My theme will be an alphabet theme where 26 canvases are "painted" for each letter.  It won't matter what sex the baby is.

  • We don't have room for a nursery.  LO will sleep in a bassinet by our bed for a couple months and then hopefully we will be able to move to a bigger house.  But if I were to do a nursery, I would do a nature theme...or Dr. Suess.

  • For DS, we decorated with gender neutral greens and yellows and had white furniture with khaki paint on the walls. With this baby, I am going to set up the furniture (dark cherry color) and that's it until he or she arrives. I will have this LO in a bassinet in my room for a few months so I will buy gender specific bedding and decor once he or she is born.
  • We've painted the walls of the nursery green and are using all white furniture. We have neutral (brown, green, yellow, blue) bedding. We're having "Twinkle Twinkle LIttle Star" painted in a big frame to hang up and I figure once he/she is born we'll get more gender specific decorations in the room and a nice area rug. For at least the first couple months we plan on having the baby in a bassinet in our room anyway.

  • My design style is very Hollywood Regency with a lot of contemporary/modern thrown in. I could have have a pink or blue room in my home even if I were finding out the gender. I don't want to find out the gender because I want that " IT'S A......!!!" moment. Nursery is going to be black, white and gray with bright yellow fabrications and accents....decorative items in chrome/silver.Perhaps a white contemporary tree with birds or large ovrsized giraffe mural on one wall I haven't decided.

  • We are doing a Peter Rabbit theme with greens and yellows. It seemed to work well with the baby being born on the edge of spring.

  • I'm also excited for the "It's a....." moment in the delivery room!

We're painting the walls green, then painting a tree mural on one wall.  We didnt really have a theme until we registered, but based on our registry, I guess our theme is monkeys.  =)

I figure that I'll add blue/pink accents once LO is born, and either one will look nice with the color scheme that's there.  Our furniture is honey oak colored.

  • We haven't found out the sex yet and I've already been pinning nurseries on Pinterest. I've been gravitating towards blue walls with accents of yellow, red, and green. I think a warm toned aqua or blue-green could easily work in a boys or girls room.

Here's one of my favs: https://designdazzle.blogspot.com/2009/08/hip-fab-baby-nursery.html

  • I found a black and white bedding set that I absolutely love. I might even paint one of the accent walls red.

  • DH is a pilot so we went with an airplane theme. The colors were greens, oranges, tans, yellows, reds and sky blue . . . so although it's probably meant more for a boy than a girl, I think it's really cute.

Have to wait to set it up all up though until we get our new carpet at the end of the month.

  • We're going to keep the baby in our room in a bassinet for the first couple months while he/she is feeding through the night.  I don't like doing gender neutral so I'm going to pick everything out for the nursery after the baby's born.  If we have another girl I'll probably use a lot of the stuff we already have, if we have a boy I get to start over and probably will do a lot of online shopping.

  • We are finding out but we are keeping the nursery gender neutral by doing a barn yard theme.  My SIL found a website that details how to iron on fabric to the walls so that will save us on a lot of painting and the associated fumes.  Also, the fabric peels off w/o a problem when we decide to change it.  Circles are the first shape baby recognizes so our animals will have a very circular shape to them.

  • We found out last pg we were team blue, but I like gender neutral anyway. DS' nursery is lime green with turquoise and orange and has birds and owls. This one will probably be yellow and grey and I'm thinking maybe with elephants.

  • We really aren't planning on doing up a whole nursery. we are still keeping our queen in the spare room, and just adding a crib and some sort of storage, but this is the bedding and color theme.

we were originally going to go with a plain sage green set from BRU, but hubby liked this better.  We are going to look for wall decals for extra decoration and i plan on making our own wall art.  We won't be living here past the baby being not even 2 so nothing permanent.  If it's a girl we will add floral type of things, and if its a boy we plan on turning it dinosaur lol.     But as my mom says, " do you remember your nursery when you were a baby? your baby won't remember theirs" lol

  • I'm painting the nursery a very pale sky blue and decorating with white furniture with a classic Winnie the Pooh theme. Going to paint a mural of Pooh floating with a balloon away from a bunch of bees on one of the walls.
  • We did not find out and are going to do a nice Neutral Cream and Chocolate Brown theme with Polka dots and stripes. Once the baby is born I will add in Pink or Green depending on what the baby is!
