Out of curiosity, who is getting the flu shot? I plan on it in a couple of weeks because my husband's work offers it for free. I can't risk getting the flu for me for the baby.
I'll probably get mine next weekend. My doctor recommended I get one and I've gotten one the past 2 years and it seems to work. Everyone else around me always get sick and I don't!
I'm going to ask my doctor at my appointment on Monday. I did get one when I was pregnant with DD. I also work in a school so it would probably be a good idea to get it.
My doc gave me mine at my last appointment. I would've gotten it anyway, but they were strangely insistent. I teach, so I have lots of exposure. It did make my arm hurt like crazy!
I will be getting it at my next OB appointment. DS got one at his last pedi appointment and I need to remind DH to find out if he will get one at work or of he should go to CVS.
i am, i just got over a cold, have an 8 mn old & with another one on the way i want to at least feel like i tried to keep us healthy.
before you get one from dh's job you may want to check w/ your ob's office. when i was pg w/ patrick my ob only wanted me to get their shot which had no additives or different ingredients or something like that...anyway she stressed that the ob's shot was different from your average flu shot so you may want to see what your dr's opinions are on that.

I will ask about it at my appointment next Wednesday - I'm not sure if my OB will give me one or if I need to see my GP or go elsewhere. I definitely plan to get it and want DH to get one too. We're both teachers so we are both exposed to lots of illnesses. I get one most years and have avoided having the flu for at least the last 5 years or so.

Got mine last week. First flu shot I ever had and didn't realize my arm would hurt like hell for 3 days. But I guess it's worth keeping myself and my baby healthy. Next up, get my son and my husband to get it.

Me neither! Unless my OBGYN is going to offer it to me for free and tell me I HAVE to get it. The only year I got one was the first year I lived in AK and the schools gave it out for free, but then I got I guess a different strain of flu, as I spent about a week with trouble breathing and fever and such body aches about 5 weeks later... Since then, I've never gotten the flu vaccine and I've never gotten the flu. I normally make it through cold and flu season without much more than the occasional sniffle when I'm outside.
I just hate flu shots. I always feel horrible for days after I get them and they mess up your arm so much - makes it tricky to babysit! I figure I'll get it on a Thursday afternoon so I have the whole weekend to recover. Ugh.

Is the nasal one available? Is that even an option?
I think the nasal mist is always an option now, but it's not recommended for pregnant women because it contains the live virus. It's a weakened version, but it's still not a good idea. I think the regular old needle is the way to go.
I got mine about 2 weeks ago at my OB appointment. I get one every year and have never had any problems with it. My DH also got one last week. Better safe than sorry is how I feel about it.
My OB highly reccomended that I get it along with my husband, so even though I've never had it before, I scheduled an appointment through my work for October 20.
I was talking to my mom yesterday who works in a hospital and one of the nurses told her that to prevent arm pain you could take tylenol the day before and the day of the shot. Since tylenol has been okay'ed by my OB, I might try this. I am such a baby when it comes to needles.
I am just recovering from some type of stomach bug and will definitely be getting the flu shot since my company pays for it.
Downside of getting sick when pregnant is you cannot take any antibiotics or anything. I just spent the past few days so very sick and could not take ANYTHING. I never want to get sick again while pregnant.

DH can't get one since he has allergic reactions to flu shots.

I will be getting it. I am going to see if my OB offers them at there office. They didn't last pregnancy, but hopefully they have it this time.
DS got his first half at his 9 mos appt and we go back at the end of the month to get the 2nd half. And now, I just have to make sure DH gets it.
