The dreaded head cold....

I've got mine again only worse this time. I can feel all the sinus pressure in my head. When I lay down its all stuck in there. When I get up it drains into my belly too much and makes me puke. And of course its Saturday so I can't call my OB. I can Google but you get mixed answers sometimes. Have any of you talked to your Dr about a head cold? And what recommendations did you get? I've read about people here using the netty pot. Is that the only safe thing?

Thanks.

  • I don't know if the netty pot is the only safe thing, but I highly recommend it to anyone with a head cold, pregnant or not. That sucker works wonders.

  • My mom is a pharmacy tech and she said there isn't really anything you can use. She suggests breathe rights, menthol cough drops and regular Tylenol if you have pain. Feel better!
i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.
  • I've got my DH's cold, but it's not even limited to the head:

My doctor's handout said I can take Sudafed, Robitussin DM, cough drops/lozenges, Benadryl, and Tylenol. I'm making a Robitussin run this afternoon.

  • I'm gonna try eating and hopefully with food in my belly the sinus won't make me sick. Since I'm getting different answers, I probably ain't try sudafed or medicines like that. I'll try to get through it without. Maybe try a netty pot. I didn't think of calling a pharmacy gisa, if it gets worse I could call mine. thanks for the info ladies. I'm one of those ftm worriers.

  • My Dr. said to take the original formula of Robitussin and to avoid Sudaphed in the first trimester. Hot soup, tylenol and sleep will also do wonders. The Neti Pot works great when you're not clogged the whole way. I hope you feel better soon! I feel like I'm starting to make progress on clearing mine up after a few days of suffering.

Yes! When my sinuses make me nauseous, I force myself to eat, and it usually starts feeling better quickly. I just had a bowl of soup, and I already don't want to die (just nap).

  • I'm checking with my pharmacist to see what she says. I don't take sudafed normally. But something for cough and sinus would be good.

  • I was given a list of safe cold meds, but told nothing first tri but Tylenol. Saline spray may help, but I hate the stuff :) Feel better! I had the worst post nasal drip 2 weeks ago, I had to sleep sitting up or I'd wake up coughing and choking.

  • I have a list of medications that are safe to take while pregnant which include Sudafed, Robatussin, Mucinex, Tylenol Cold, Benadryl, Claratin, Zyrtec. I've already been taking Zyrtec at night and it seems to be helping my fall allergies.
