How did your LO do last night? Fewer wake-ups I hope. We actually had mini-success last night. I started with the same bedtime routine around 7pm (he never really got a real nap yesterday and was exhausted). By 730pm, he was asleep in the crib. I had put him down slightly awake after feeding with minimal resistance. I heard him partially wake up several times on the monitor, but he didn't really start to cry until 1230am .... 4 1/2 hours of sleep, which is excellent for him. After that he had frequent wake-ups. He slept from 2-3am and 3:45-4:30am. At that point he let me know that he was absolutely DONE with the crib. I brought him to my bed and he slept from 6:30-8:15am. In total, that's only 8 hours of sleep. Not enough for my baby, but definitely more than we had been getting the past few nights. I am hoping that it gets better every day. I will consider last night a success. Looking forward to hearing how your night went. And I would love to hear from any other mamas going through the crib transition right now. How is it going?
Re: awisem - how did "Operation Crib, Night #2" go?
I'm glad your night was better than the first night!
We had a great night - I can't believe how well it went! The 9pm bedtime didn't work so well the first night so we decided to try putting him to bed at the time that we typically do most nights. We also didn't do his bedtime routine in his room, we did it in our room like we used to do. We went to bed at 10 and changed DS's diaper, pjs and swaddled all in our room while DH and I watched a little tv. I then nursed him while we sat on my bed like we did every night. He ate and passed out and I went and put him in his room, no problems at all! He was sound asleep.
DH woke up at 4:30 am and he asked me if Michael had woken up at all and if I had gotten out of bed because he hadn't noticed. I said no and he asked if Michael had made any noise over the baby monitor - again my answer was no (if we weren't using the snuza monitor that would have freaked me out that it had been so long and I hadn't heard a peep from him.) So DH and I went and checked on him and he was asleep - moving his legs around a bit, but asleep.
So we went back to bed and then he started to wake up at about 5:15 am - so 7 hours of sleep - it was glorious!! I nursed him and he went right back to sleep and back in his crib sound asleep. He slept till 8:30 this morning - he may have slept longer but I woke him up...he normally wakes up between 8-9, but if he doesn't then I wake him up to start our day.
So last night was successful for us - I hope it keeps up!
One thing that help me transtition DD into her crib is placing the shirt I had worn all day into her crib. That way she could still "smell" me. It seemed to help b/c the first night she woke at 330am but after placing my night shirt in there she continued to sleep till 730am. .... just an idea but it couldnt hurt right?!
