I'm with you Heck. I'm also overwhelmed at the different types of coats. Do I need one with a hood? How puffy? What about this full body thingamabobs? I need to move to Florida.
The two men in my life. Oh, and I have a husband too...
I bought Hunter's at the end of last season on clearance for $5, two sizes ahead and I guessed right.
DS has acid relux and milk protein allergy, and had torticollis, used to EP,

I'm checking out a consignment sale in October to see what I can find...if nothing there then I'm hitting up thrift stores. I'm not above buying coats that other babies have also outgrown in 5 minutes!
This. I bought a nice everday coat from The Children's Place and an Old Navy parka/snowbib set off ebay. All for $35. Can't wait to go sledding this year!!
I would check consignment sales, craigslist or even check the regular stores clearance racks. I saw some jackets yesterday on the clearance racks at Target.
Unable to even.

For some reason I thought my kid was going to be huge and bought one last year on clearance. I bought 18m and it was $10.00. It might fit him next year! It's hard finding a small enough jacket. I think 12m might be too big yet. I bought a heavy duty fleece jacket that might be warm enough. I look when I go to consignment sales for a puffier jacket. Also I saw some at Walmart that looked semi decent.
I'm already all over consignment shops and Goodwills. I have one moderately puffy jacket that's 18 months that will fit him. I think that's all he's going to have unless I find something by chance. It doesn't get too terribly cold in Oklahoma. We usually have one freak snowfall and that's it.

I assume it's cold and snowy there like it is here? And our LO's have the same birthday so I think they'll both be walking by the time that crap rolls around. That said, DD's winter coat for this year is puffy with a hood. I plan on buying her snow pants as well. We did a "full body thingamabob" last year.

Target has all of those. For cheap.

No Target in Ontario yet Thankfully we got a parka as a hand-me-down but we're on the look out for pants. So far I've seen them for about $50! No thanks!
Coming out of lurkdom to help out my fellow Canadian Moms.....check Joe Fresh. I got my daughter a super cute (and good quality) set for $45. They sell separate snow pants for $19. I overheard the staff talking about how quickly they sell out (like within the next few weeks). My local store just put out stock this weekend so I'd get there fast. I found the coats/sets in the toddler/kids section were a little nicer than the infant section. Toddler sizes start at size 1.....good luck!
Re: Best prices on winter coats?

I just found this gem at The Gap. It's a faux leather moto jacket that is...$59.95. Any takers? It's pretty cute, but $60? For a baby coat??
I didn't even think about ON and now I am coveting this for Lily:

They are all under $20 from what I see.
