XP: Names?

DH and I have started discussing names.  Right now we have narrowed it down to two girl names Brooklyn Anne or Raelynn Anne.  For the Boy we are thinking about Blake Alexander.  I am not sure with twins if we should do the same initials, different...I like the matching initials and would probably do it for siblings, but I am not sure about twins...

What are your guys thoughs about these names?

Re: XP: Names?

  • I like Blake Alexander. And I like Anne. Brooklyn and Raelynn are both nms.

Personally, I went for different initials for my twins; matchy names were just a little too cutesy for me.

  • We went for different names - Maggie ,Naomi,Sarah.... BUT that was just because we liked those names.  Had it been g/b twins instead of ggg - they would have been Naomi and Nolan - because that's what I liked....  :)

I really think Blake and Brooklyn are cute :)  Also I love Raelyn and Blake -- matching initials aren't as hard for people when the kids aren't the same gender....

  • My personal opinion is that I would not do names with the same initial only because I have found that with the same date of birth and the same initials (as well as often similar SSN numbers), there can be a lot of confusion.  I am a twin and my sister and I have the same initials and I have had her car accident on my driving record, a billing dispute of hers on my credit report and so on.  I just think it has the potential to create problems, at least in my own experience.

However, with that said, if you absolutely loved two names that happened to have the same initials and those were the names you all could agree on, I would do it anyway.  I wouldn't drive myself crazy to avoid it if that's what I really liked.

  • My twins have matching first initials.  Not because I wanted to match, but because those were the names we liked.  It's kind of a PITA when it comes to labeling things.  We didn't realize that the babies could need different formulas, etc.  Everything that needs to be marked has all 3 initials on it.  I'm just really glad they have different middle names because it would be even harder if they had identical monograms.

  • I like Blake and Raelynn but not a fan of Anne for the mn. I dont have anything against Anne...its a very pretty and classic name.  I just dont think it goes well with Raelynn.

We did do 2 K names but only because we had already picked Kaydance from when we were pg with our DS.  We knew that if baby #2 was a girl we would use Kaydance.  Turned out we were having 2 girls.  DH picked the name for the other baby since I picked Landons name.  :)  He chose Kennedy and I also loved it.  It was on my girls list along with Kaydance when we were pg with Landon.  Dh doesnt know that though.  lol.  He thinks he came up with it all on his own.

For some reason I have had people say that their names sound matchy.  The only thing similar is the first letter.  Not sure how that sounds matchy.

  • I like Brooke, Ann and Alexander.  Naming twins is really hard, good luck!

  • I am not a fan of matching initials JUST b/c they are twins. If you like two names that are the same then great. They are two different people and I felt more comfortable naming them like we would any other siblings. Plus, sticking with the same initial can be so limiting.

I think you should come up with names you love and I'm also a big of the middle names having a meaning or name after an important person in your life, otherwise I just don't get the point of a middle name. My 3 girls all were given middle names after their grandmas. Their first names were selected for no other reason than MH and I liked them.

As far as the names your considering, Raelynn is not really my style but the other two are nice.
