I apologize if this topic has been beat to death already- I don't get a chance to come on here much but just wondering...
How many babies are down to one nap a day? If so when did your child drop the second nap.
I want to go on record as saying that I do love our daycare center. But I have a frustration...my DD just turned 11 months a week ago, and she is transitioning the next room at daycare for "older infants" (generally 12-18mos). They are moving her up 2 weeks before her B-day because they feel like she's ready and she is walking and everything. In the older infant room they have all the kids on a schedule- all eat at the same time- do structured activities, and 12-2 is "nap time". I just don't feel like she's ready to go down to one nap a day but I've brought it up a few times and the message I've received is that it's not up to me- this is how they do it and that's that. Yesterday was her first day of only one nap and she was SOOO exhausted that I could literally not wake her up this morning- I carried a completely passed out baby into daycare today. They keep telling me it's an adjustment and that she'll get used to it, but I just wonder when others go down to one nap?
Re: How many naps
I believe that 12-18 months is the typical range for when kids drop to one nap a day.
However, like everything else all kids are different. Some are ready sooner. Some later. My friends 3 1/2 year old still needs 1 long nap or 2 short naps a day. Another's 1 1/2 year old only needs 1 shorter nap but can get by without one when needed.
